Few more Yellowknife photos. ... I have some more pics & vids (about 500), so I'll upload a dozen more or so later. Few more. This will probably be the last or second-to-last batch.

That is actually a community of houseboats, not ice fishing huts. Some prominent old people live there, and they have pretty long-lasting ties with mainland Yellowknife. The houseboats are a popular year-round attraction up there (one of them even operates a b&b!), and you can read about them here:
Regarding attachments, I always make mine external to this forum because I thought that there is still limited space, and also because I crosspost on CD.

shalop. Houseboats in Yellowknife? Wow. Thanks for the link. I see now that they are city-data attachments, not cdweather. I think there is still limited space but I haven't heard anything about that recently.

Thanks for posting the pics and video. Looks like an awesome place to visit in winter.

Now for some pictures: First set is from January 13th, before the snow fell. Went for a bike ride since it was not muddy.
Off to the side of the trail:
There were a few trees destroyed like this. What animal or insect would do that to a tree?
[\spoiler] Boring view on a snowless, gloomy day. This weather happens often in spring and fall, so having it most of winter gets old. It snowed last weekend, then turned cold. First snow in weeks! Blue skies on a cold morning, -5F/-21C
There was enough wind the day before to make shapes in the snow. On Sunday the 20th the marsh was mostly frozen, but the snow kept it from freezing all the way. 10F/-12C.

This week we got some snow between Wednesday and Thursday (nothing impressive, btw). This is a picture I managed to take while returning back home on Wednesday evening, here in my village: ^ yes, I know that technically speaking this is not a good picture This is Turin the next day instead. At the end it actually snowed a little bit more in the city than at my place, but the real snowfall was concentrated on the southern half of the region (so in the provinces of Cuneo, Asti and Alessandria). Estimated time for the complete snow melting: 18 hours (the most of which during the night)

It has been greener than usual the past couple of weeks I guess because temps failed to get below freezing between December 12 and January 20. Plentiful growth of cool season grasses/weeds. I've even seen a couple of small trees blooming prematurely... Despite some chilly daytime temps, nights hadn't been cooling down much due to cloudy conditions. Quite a bit of rainfall which probably contributed to vegetation growth. Had some freezes this past week, which appears to have killed some of the weeds and blooms. Got down to 27F Thursday morning, which still really isn't that impressive... Hopefully it gets colder this coming week. Here are picks of the grass this afternoon. Pics I took of frost Thursday morning when it got down to 27F.
