Holy fuck this is gorgeous. It looks so unreal: Amazing what some non-rainy weather can do! These two are from Bellingham.

Couldn't help myself with this one. Booked a quick trip to Chicago just to experience its most epic weather in 34 years.
My legs and lungs are slightly sore from all the walking on Wednesday alone. For $220 including lodging/meals it was probably the most efficient/compact trip I've ever done, for the enjoyment I got out of it.:

So much smoke coming from the rooftops! And the ducks are still swimming in the water. Very few people on the streets for Chicago, even on a weekday there should be people out and about if it was a normal temperature.

shalop it's cool you get to visit cold places or even just continental climates while they have an epic cold snap, I'm jealous lol As I've been doing the past few nights where it's been quite chilly, I got a nice fire going. I know not the most interesting pic but it's quite the roaring flame.

Was up in Northampton, Massachusetts. A few days this week. Snowed Tuesday night, next morning. Nice fresh coat but not too deep nice and sunny. 20°F with a light breeze pride flag knot Yahya Sinwarat least some stuck to the trees, wish more did nice backyard treehouse Thursday evening was 12°F. No ice, too cold for any snow to melt and refreeze

White and fluffy snow part II, the previous pictures were taken yesterday in the morning, and it continued to snow until yesterday at 9 pm or so. Other snow in this afternoon forecast. This is the view this morning: ^ the abusive palm tree (on the right) seems to be enjoying this so much... ^ nice streets ^ this is my oldest cat, doing his best for avoiding the snow as much as possible ^ very precise snow depth measures part II. Corresponding picture taken yesterday is under spoiler, for comparison ^ somehow more precise snow depth measures (the scale is in cm)

Still a good snowpack here.
This is a part of the city with mostly terraced houses / town houses.
Snow pack down to sea level for several weeks now. The fjord never ever freezes over - it's 10 km wide and 500 m /1600 ft deep. But a small creek coming down to this beach has frozen.
Ducks in the estuary of this small river

It was gloomy and sometimes foggy today. Temperature was in the high 30s F with some drizzle on and off. If it wasn't foggy you could see a hill in the background here. It's only about 400m away.
