On the NorCal cold snap: High of 48ºF in Mount Shasta City today is 22ºF below normal. (0.57" of rain) High of 57ºF in Redding today is 25ºF below normal. (0.20" of rain) High of 60ºF in Sacramento today is 21ºF below normal. (0.35" of rain) some higher elevations must have gotten freezes? or maybe not so much, lapse rate usually goes down during precipitation. At least if it's oceanic sourced. Snow line looks like 6000 feet, knot ' favorite climate is getting snow; snowiest areas near Lake Tahoe (Squaw Valley, Alpine Valley) got 16-18" of snow in 2 days. More to come nice satellite image of the storm

Heavy storms here late last night with a lot of lightning. I ended up with 3.37"! Nothing severe where I'm at.
There were tornado warnings to my southwest and south and seeing some reports of damage. There was even a "PDS" warning for a large tornado confirmed by radar.

Got back to Rochester today and it’s gorgeous here with all the newly leafed our trees, flowering trees and bushes, green grass, etc. The lilacs popped this weekend and they smell great, I love this time of year. Heres some lucky places’ highs today: Dansville: 91 Syracuse: 89 Elmira: 88 Dunkirk: 88 Ithaca: 87 Albany: 86 Niagara Falls: 86 Even Buffalo and Bunghole managed 83. Our high was a lame ass 82. Rochester shot up to 80 early in the morning then had 2 rounds of t-storms during the day ruin the heat. According to my friends though they were pretty severe and had hail so I’m bummed I missed them. It was 82 at noon and 82 at 6 PM so I guarantee we’d have gotten to the upper 80s if it hadn’t rained This was the latest first 80 since 1995 and probably the coldest May record high since somewhere around there. At least it felt summery when I got home and the dew point hit 68 (20 C) but really, why can’t the thunderstorms come on a mid-70s day when I’m actually here and then let the hot day actually get hot? ??
And of course right back fucking down to 70 tomorrow.

Hottest temperature for 2019 in the country today with 27.6C (82F) in Pori.
Funderstorm advisory issued for Finland Proper for tomorrow, but they are likely to hit inland and not Turku. Sadly.

The dryness continues in Saskatoon, we've had 4.4mm of precipitation this month altogether and a total 25.8mm this entire year so far, and not much in the upcoming forecasts (and when they do show significant rain in the forecast it almost always ends up being far less than predicted). Last year started off very dry as well and I suspected it might beat 2001 as the driest year on record but it didn't quite get there. This year is even drier so far, so we'll see how that goes. We might also be on our way to beating last year's sunshine totals, it feels like almost uninterrupted sunshine all the time right now.

Yikes, look at this arctic air bleeding down. Umeå is right at the frontier; nice and 20C there, but just a bit north along the coast the temperature halves. Turdku is the warmest spot along with W Estonia. Surprisingly chilly in Denmark.

Much of Northern and Western Europe will be unsettled for the last week of May. Freezing 850s as south as Picardy, which should come as good news for Cadeau and other oceanic heat haters.

mostly sunny morning, then rained at 3-4 pm; then by 6 pm cleared up that it was as much clear as cloudy. Cool but nice smell to the air as I biked home.Kinda looked like it does in Boston now:

rained 20 minutes later with a hint of sun in the distance, now mostly cloudy with sun to the northwest
