Interesting weather today.
The high reached 80 (27 C), possibly the last 80 of the year and the 4th this month.
Around 4:45 PM, a cold front came through with pouring rain and wind gusts up to 62 mph. I arrived home to many downed trees and branches on my street as well as my basketball hoop. This was the highest wind gust since the March windstorm.
0.25" (6 mm) of rain fell, bringing the monthly total to 3.48" (88 mm), already well above the average for the entire month.
The dew point also reached as high as 68 (20 C), probably close to a record for the date.

Highs of 85-87 F (29-31 C) for the next seven days, lows around 75-76 F (24 C). This climate gets so tiring this time of year.
I supposed at least it's cooled off from the 91-93 F (33-34 C) highs a month or two ago.

The weather today has been epic. Temperatures well above average, heavy winds, trees blown bare, freaky red skies across parts of the country. Whereas in Ireland all the schools have been shut, flights cancelled, and regrettably three people dead so far. www.bbc.com/news/live/uk-41633276

TBH I'm sick of wind now. So many gales this year it's unreal. Not only in winter but in June, August and September too. The window on my top floor rattles around like crazy and makes a huge draft. BLOODY WIND!!!!!!!! SOD OFF!!!!!!!!

53mph here, nothing that bad. 5th October was worse, with 68mph. But on this top floor apartment it sounds really loud and annoying.
England isn't getting much wind from this ex hurricane. Ireland had 109mph wind gusts and widespread 90mph+.

Chilly day today--by far the coldest of the season.
The high was just 50 (10 C) at midnight and it's been in the 40s (high 0s C) all afternoon.
The low has been 44 (7 C) so far--the first sub-50 low since the 3rd when the average low has been in the 40s all month.
Todays high was 30 F cooler than yesterday! The last time such a large drop happened was March 5-6th with consecutive highs of 28 and 59 (-2 and 15 C).

The low was 1.7C, the coldest of the season. The first freeze might happen on Friday night.
The last first freeze on record was on 28 October, I doubt we can hang on that far.
The high yesterday was 15.7C a relatively warm day by our October standards. The high in TΓΌrku was 15.7C. Yesterday was 16th October. Last night in TΓΌrku the low was 1.7C. TΓΌrku is in the province of Finland Proper, and the high yesterday on 16 October was 15.7C.

Ophelia was officially easternmost Atlantic hurricane in history, and this hurricane season has been one of the most active on record.
Some parts of England hit 25C, but I've noticed other parts of western Europe have experienced unseasonably warm temperatures. I'm assuming it's not all related to Ophelia?

Yep it's all related to Ophelia, the deep low pressure system dragged warm air, as well as airborne desert sand, from Africa. Parts of Spain had record breaking temperatures.
