I saw some 30s in the forecast for Northern Wisconsin, so I looked to see if anywhere has seen a frost yet. It's not rare for a single weather station to see a 32F reading in mid-August somewhere in the area. As of today, nowhere (on xmacis) has seen a frost in Wisconsin, the last frost was June 13th, 31F in Hayward and Barnes. Doe Lake and Spincich in the UP of Michigan both recorded 31F on July 31st, it was the national low temperature for the day (Alaska doesn't count) [ link]. Doe Lake is on NowData, and had a frost-free period of just 6 weeks this year, normal is about 8 weeks. It must be in a great spot for radiational cooling. Minnesota has been frost-free since June 15th.
Edit: Found Doe lake weather station on satellite view. link Spincich lake station should be here, I don't see it. link Both are in a wooded rural area.

Hot and humid this evening here, 90 F with a 70 F dew point.
Next few days don't look quite as hot as originally forecast, though still plenty hot (three 92 F days in a row). The cooldown for this weekend is looking a bit more potent now, NWS has highs of 80 F and lows of 60 F for Friday and Saturday.

Strong storm looked like it was headed right toward me this evening, though of course the segment headed toward me started breaking up as it approached. I hardly got anything from it. There was quite a bit of lightning with it. Reports of power outages in the area.

Got a beautiful storm last night, stormed quite nicely for a solid hour. For some reason Dulles doesn't have precip amounts from that storm, but I would guess it was about 0.75-1"? Either way, one of the best storms all summer. Got some very strong winds, very heavy rain, lightning every few seconds. Sweet.
This morning is calm and mild, 71 F with a 68 F dew point, headed up to 92 F with afternoon storms today.
Yesterday's high ended up being 95 F (35.0 C), which is a couple of degrees below the original predicted high. Forecast for the weekend looks nice.

Weβre averaging 82.4/60.7 through 19 days. Thats +1.5 f, mainly due to the highs.
Itβs also a dry month, only 1.24β, but sadly over half of that has come since I got back.
Also itβs so damn stable like all our summer months are nowadays. All but 1 day has had a high between 77 and 87. Lows are just as stable.

We hit a low 0.7C a couple nights ago, which broke that day's record low of 2.2C. Our average low for the month is currently 7.4C, about 3C below average. I doubt this will be a record setting cold August but it's definitely one of the summer months with the coldest average lows that I can remember experiencing here.

Wow, what a day today has been. Hit 92 F (33.3 C), and then since about 4:30 pm, we've been getting hit with rounds of very strong thunderstorms , even drove through a hailstorm on the way back home from work! Luckily no damage to my car and windshield, but holy shit I've only experienced something like that a few times in my life. Unfortunately, Dulles Airport for whatever stupid fucking reason doesn't have recordings today between the 4 and 7 PM observations, but it's been fucking epic. Easily the best storm day this summer. w1.weather.gov/data/obhistory/KIAD.htmlRight now it's 73 F with some rain falling outside, getting windy again. Maybe another storm coming in? Haven't checked the radar.

big dewpoint contrast this afternoon SW to NE. Interior New New England down to low 50s, western New Jersey in the 70s, NYC in between at 64-66; not a bad summer day here

So Dulles airport decided to stop being a bitch and actually put in the 4-7 PM observations from yesterday afternoon, looks like 1.48" (38 mm) of rain fell, not a bad effort! w1.weather.gov/data/obhistory/KIAD.htmlCurrently 69 F (20.6 C) with a 67 F (19.4 C) dew point here, headed up to 91 F (32.8 C) for today with a 50% chance of thunderstorms.

Today's the first day of the season with an average low below 10C for us and also the first day with a peak sun angle below 50 degrees, and our last day with a sunrise before 6:00am... the beginning of the end.

Today's the first day of the season with an average low below 10C for us and also the first day with a peak sun angle below 50 degrees, and our last day with a sunrise before 6:00am... the beginning of the end. Ironically, also exactly two months after the solstice, and the last day brightest one-third of the year (April 21 - August 21). It's pretty warm this morning, 72 F (22.2 C) with a 67 F (19.4 C) dew point, today will be hot with a predicted high of 93 F (33.9 C) and a chance of thunderstorms. Last hot day for a while though, we have four straight days with highs in the 70s in the forecast! Going from a 93 F (33.9 C) high today to a 76 F (24.4 C) high tomorrow, not a bad swing by summer standards.

It's the end of August and still not a single sign of fall. I've seen some leaves on the ground in some places, and some rare trees have a few yellow leaves, but that's not necessarily fall-related. Despite the record warm summer last year, this year is much greener in late august, probably due to a lack of drought.

Just had an awesome and very loud thunderstorm roll through earlier this evening, one of the bigger ones we've had this year actually. Very surprising to get this in late August. Humidity is also super high for this time of the month/year, with a 17C dew point at the moment. This has been a pleasantly surprising day, I really appreciate this burst of unseasonal stormy summer weather after weeks of unseasonal mildness
