We saw some snow last week, although more notable in the higher villages. Photos aren't mine ofc, I don't own multiple homes... yet.

Agreed Nidaros. Let me make it clear that I was not dicking around, and took all precautionary measures conceivable.

shalopThose pictures of snowy Vermont and Algonquin are great and all, and there is undoubtedly no shortage of snow. But the snow in Yellowknife looks so much more...pure. Just beautiful up there. The picture from the Pilot's monument brings back some memories.

The best season is coming to an end unfortunately. Might as well put up my pics from the season. This was while riding bikes with nei. Temp +7C. didn't expect a ride photo from that day to pop up now looks like you biked down to Lower Manhattan somewhere by Battery Park City? saw that place when searching for places to stay; was hoping to stay closer to the Adirondack High Peaks. By the time I realized everything closer was overpriced, the Deer's Head Inn was booked up. Maybe another visit; good to know it's a good price. at least you got a view, too cold for me and I don't want to risk frosting. I'm going to check vertical soundings to see what the temperature was

Some trees forming leaves. Took this pic yesterday morning after a freeze (it got down to 28F with temps at/below freezing maybe 7-8 hours; not sure if that's enough to kill them). Still it seems a majority of deciduous trees haven't leafed. A lot of clover growth and cool season grasses.

shalop Those pictures of snowy Vermont and Algonquin are great and all, and there is undoubtedly no shortage of snow. But the snow in Yellowknife looks so much more...pure. Just beautiful up there. The picture from the Pilot's monument brings back some memories. Yeah part of it is photographic effects caused by the environment. The thin layer of rime ice on the trees, low sun angle, and ice fog combine to give this effect that's similar to an angelic glow. The other part of it is, when you're out there in the North knowing there aren't many people around and nothing above -30C in a 1500km radius, the scenery just feels more pristine and real than anywhere in the lower US. looks like you biked down to Lower Manhattan somewhere by Battery Park City? Yep, I just took the Hudson river bikeway all the way down to South Ferry. I say if you can get under $150 a night, then go for it. I got $129 from Airbnb including taxes, fees, etc. 48 hour cancellation was included so no strings attached. I actually thought it'd be someone's house, not a real inn with restaurant, so it was well worth it for me. The 40 min drive to the Adk Loj is annoying, but definitely beats staying in a generic overpriced place closer to the Loj. Be warned that the restaurant only operates Thu-Sat 5-9pm during winter months. Yeah the -22/-23 was just an approximation from a lapse rate calculation based on -18C in SLK at the time, not actually measured since I forgot my thermometer. Would be great to know what actual temp was.

During this weekend in Grenoble we had some spring-like days (highs of about 20°C, clear skies, flowers everywhere...). Before it starts to rain again, I took the change for walking a little around the place and took some pictures.

That looks like elder or some type of ash.

Parts of Southern Sweden have been given the highest class flood warning. This guy has to row a boat to get to his house.

It's been snowing all day and is looking seasonal for once. Sadly, the forecast has already warmed back up and it'll all start melting next week.

Dad sent me a nice picture from the valley today. Basically, today was a low clouds day in the village, so he drove up to the mountain above the first clouds layers and watched it from above. At least at 1500 m, it seems that there is some snow too.

posting my Saturday photos from the Adirondacks; alex992 was down below in a snowstorm about 90 miles southeast. Thick clouds in the distance blocked the view. Similar one must have caused a snowstorm. Mid teens down below, maybe 8-10°F at 3000 feet and windy when exposed. Looks like a shelf cloud more photos
