Port Arthur, TX just had their 3 wettest years in a row. 2017 was 1st, 2018 was 2nd and 2019 was 3rd. Before that, 2015 and 2016 were also top 10. They average 60” of rain a year, the last 3 have all had over 85”. I’ve seen plenty of places with their 3 hottest years in a row but never for precipitation. Yeah for some reason extreme rain events have had a tendency to set up over SE TX recently. Lake Charles, LA just 50 miles to the east of Beaumont/Port Arthur has seen closer to normal rainfall the past two years. (66.01" in 2019 and 61.53 in 2018). 2016 & 2017 were top 10 in Lake Charles. Meanwhile Alexandria, LA hasn't had a top 10 wettest year since 1995.

People on the British forums are saying no proper cold weather at all for as far ahead as the models can go.
We certainly can get back-ended winters but I'm not really bothered either way to be honest, I just want as much sun as I can get.

Wow, highs in 80F and above up to NC yesterday. It hasn't hit 80F in January in Alexandria since 2008. Hoping it doesn't happen this year...

Actually, 69.8° C was the maximal reading; scored a direct hit from embers. I've been up all night since yesterevening keeping watch (as I did not evacuate); the RFS had successfully warded off the fires, with the assistance of the southerly. Prior to that, the winds chiefly tended WNW as opposed to NW or NNW, thus improving the situation. As shown here, the fires have burnt through Providence Portal (far north-west) and Coppermine Bay (far south-west), but did not advance much farther south-eastwards than that: Just as I predicted, hence I did not evacuate...and if the fire did draw nearer, I had plans to jump in the lake. All townships have been spared the inferno; the fire has now been downgraded to Advice. Furthermore, that rain should be on its way soon enough. NOTICE: If I go quiet for a while, that means the reception tower(s) have been burnt and/or I'm keeping watch on more potential fire activity—do not worry.

Dropped like a brick!
8.8° C with squally rain at midday here, and 10.5° C at Cooma AP! What on Earth is this? Very unexpected...but also welcome, considering the situation. Only Yr.no successfully forecast this sort of cold to blast through.

torch is coming for the east Love it! We can’t buy a snowstorm so might as well just be warm and not 30s and boring.

We've only had 70-80% of normal sunshine for the past three months with no snow. Torshavn isn't a good place to be.
