Lush landscape in French Catalonia (eastern Pyrenees) Moar mountain pics under the spoiler: Love birch-lined alleys! Stormy skies Evening light Local fauna Sign at trailhead says there are chamois, lynx, wolves and even bears. Saw none of those of course. Birches <3 On another day, trying to go down a ski slope, but without skis. Local fauna again Looks like avalanche damage Looks like we cannot ski. Going down another slope, treeless disant landscape: Watch out guys! The fort was built under Louis 14th to keep the Spanish at bay.

Pics from a hike, in the Pyrenees too. Landscapes are maybe reminiscent of parts of Colorado Steelernation ? August 19, 2020 Trailhead elevation: 1713 m (5620') Top elevation: 2921 m (9583') Total elevation gain: 1946 m (6385') Distance: 39.9 km (24.8 mi) Got up too late, it was past 10 am and the sun was blazing at the trailhead. I remember waiting for a thunderstorm to end in this shelter as a kid, probably the most terrifying experience I've ever had with thunder. Looking up. There are usually lots of chamois and bighorns in these mountains, most likely seen much earlier, around 6-8 am. And off we go! The real tsar bomba actually landed in French Catalonia. Please note the elaborate anti-bomb device: Will have to go up the mountain in the middle later in the day as it's a loop hike. Approaching the largest lake in the Pyrenees: Looking the other way: Not your kind of landscape if you like trees At the rear end of the lake Moar desolate landscape Gotta climb this slope: Cairn at the pass View on the other side: Looking back at the pass Nice flat valley further down Looking back Mooh! The creek flows into another large lake: Lakeshore trail Yet another lake! Methinks there should be water in there: Yet another lake! Yet another lake! Nice view Gotta climb up there: Yet another lake! Yet another lake! Gee the sun is already setting behind the mountains The highest of them all, must be frozen Oct-Jun or something. These are the only snow patches I've seen all day: Getting trickier At the top, looking north Looking east towards all the lakes Looking down Now the sun is really setting!

Awesome pics rozenn . Love those desolate landscapes. How long were you out there? Thanx! I was there from 10 am to 9:30 pm; it was really getting dark towards the end. I wish I had had the time to stop on the shores of one of the numerous lakes. Should've gotten up earlier!

Posting photos from the trip in southern Sicily from 2 weeks ago; while this trip was, in part, a business trip (for Noto), but the rest of it was for tourism. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pt. 1. Photos from Noto (taken on the morning of the 12th) The cathedral: Palazzo Ducezio: Monastery of San Salvatore: Porto Reale: Date palm; most of southern Italy has that cold African rock vibe jajajajaja... No Italian town is complete without a fountain... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pt. 2. Photos from Modica (taken on the 12th in the evening) Nice block-like look: St. George's Cathedral ( Duomo di San Giorgio); nice subtropical vegetation: Isn't that a jacaranda tree? @logan5 Views from Pizzo Belvedere: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pt. 3. Photos from Scala dei Turchi (near Agrigento; from 13th in the afternoon). Technically the cliff was closed to tourists but there was no one to stop you so plenty of people (including me) on the cliff...I also went swimming for a couple of hours. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

^^^^ Yep, looks like a Jacaranda. When do the flower there? - here can be anywhere from November to March, depending on how dry the spring is. I'm guessing they would be earlier in Italy. Nice photos. Certainly looks different. I haven't been in Sicily when they flower there, though it seems like they bloom in April/May; I might be wrong though.

Gloomy as hell out there when the storm began to hit this morning. The city looked like something out of a Charles Dickens novel.

So cute! Looks also like something out of a zombie apocalypse movie. Where are the people?! Autumn color beginning to show This hornet ate a good chunk of the handrail while I was away.

I was there early, about 7:00am, and the weather was crap. I guess being from a massive city like Paris you're used to cities that "never sleep". Btw, why are your Autumn colours showing so early, what's the altitude?

A few quick shots taken in Manitou Beach, Saskatchewan yesterday evening, a small resort village about 120km (75 miles) southeast of Saskatoon. It borders Little Manitou Lake, which is unique in Saskatchewan for its very high salt content (about half as much as the Dead Sea) allowing people to float freely on the water. It started off quite hot (near 30C) when I arrived and then cooled down rapidly, with quite a howling wind the whole time.

Due to a car wreck, we basically had no time to explore on Mt Washington (and the people I was with weren't prepared or had it in mind to do much physical exertion), so I got barely any pics... @ ~1200m amsl It was cool to see in person what Vancouver Island is more like, rather than just the thin sliver of populated land on the east coast. Although hiking some of the rough terrain would be better. It was 14C and windy. Nice dry air too. Ski hill Nice alpine grasses Next day, Sunday, went to Newcastle Island just off of Nanaimo. Upon arrival it was ~22C and cloudy with a random drop of water every few minutes. The mainland mountains looked nice under these atmospheric conditions. An average looking temperate forest This squirrel was furiously gnawing on this wood, never seen anything like it Nice small meadow for rozenn to relax in with some French beers and the local insects Nice path. It looked darker in real life though. Firewood chopped by someone Wicked arbutus trees...no idea what would cause such a uniform growth but they usually are not slanted like this. Maritime oak savannah, fucken! By this point it was raining pretty good and the temp dropped from 22C to 14C. Nanaimo on the other side Better than Newcastle, NSW...I can tell you that Got very close to this deer. It was not bothered at all by me. It was looking for something... On the eastern side of Newcastle island. Very desolate look Same shot as the first, just 2 hours later after the rain had fully moved in.

Nice pics! Landscapes look pretty varied. I was there early, about 7:00am, and the weather was crap. I guess being from a massive city like Paris you're used to cities that "never sleep". Btw, why are your Autumn colours showing so early, what's the altitude? Not sure how much fell but my guess is that it's drought-related. It's about 1300 m asl.
