Post your photos from September 1 onward in this thread! Overcast skies gave way to some neat sunsets; temperature was 69°F with a 60°F dew point at the time of making these photos:

Reviving this thread as no one has posted in here after a week; I had to pop into Rome earlier today so I took some pictures, temperature was 84°F at the Ciampino site at the time of making these pictures (probably similar temperature or slightly warmer at the city itself). Babu didn't you come inside St. Peter's Basilica when you visited Rome 2 years ago? St. Peter's Square: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Also some pictures from inside St. Peter's Basilica (sorry about some pictures being a little out-of-focus): ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Tiber River (note that these aren't fall colors (probably because of the dryness) on those plane trees): Castel Sant'Angelo: Cheatgrass is beginning to regrow:

I was in Normandy this weekend. Much to my disbelief, I witnessed a perplexing phenomenon. Behold, the grass was green. They built thatched roofs over the smallest things in that village - including wells. View from a POV over the Seine valley Looking the other way to the point where the river flows into the sea. Bridge was briefly the longest cable-stayed bridge in the world in the late 90s. Where the toilets of 20 million people flow: Noice Leaning church in Caen A survivor from WWII. Yuck @ the rest. The church with the two spires in the background is where the man who brought civilization to the British Isles, aka William the Conqueror, is buried. Damn that grass. I almost got a hard-on. About to jovially sail to the shrieking sixties and brave the gales to hunt for the shoals of herring with the fellows. Skies @ the Pointe du Hoc, D-Day hotspot Colleville American cemetery The town of Bayeux in the background Nice autumn flowers - and grass!

Grass looked dry then. Temp was in the 80's F that day then the following day was cooler with rain starting midday.

Is it the first time you do the trip up north Noodles? François Peron Nat'l Park, that name doesn't sound all that Australian. Nice! I was in Normandy almost a year ago (Sept 21, 2019). Grass looked dry then. Temp was in the 80's F that day then the following day was cooler with rain starting midday. Eww, that looks exactly like the grass here currently! The boundary is about 50 miles west of Paris.

State of the vegetation Nice skies today Aren't those "fall colors" from dryness/drought? I've seen a similar thing with the plane trees along the banks of the Tiber River, as I've said earlier, when I was in Rome a few days ago, most other trees are still green though. Great photos BTW!

Yes, this is due to the drought. Usually such scenes aren't seen before October. Plane trees and especially chestnut trees usually look bad by early September but this year other species have joined the party.

We had some smoke here today, but it wasn't as extreme as places further west.

Went to Örnsköldsvik today, the closest town to the south. While the girl I'm dating was getting a tattoo, I went out to take a look at the town and climb one of the High Coast mountains. It's unfair. Örnsköldsvik is so much prettier than Umeå. And they've got much better parks, with a better selection of trees. In Umeå they just plant birches, linden and maple and basically nothing else. This little grove had a bunch of large beech trees as well as elm, oak, linden, maple and ash.

Hiked 60 km in the Spessart mountains.
Nice cloud.
In the highlands (about 500 m), most trees already had some yellow leaves, though I think this one is due to drought/illness.
