This phone isnt the best for taking pics of celestials but you get the idea. Over the weekend it was thick enough to completely block the sun. Wildcat

Couple pics from Squamish this evening. It looked darker in real life. Might be some clouds mixed in but it's hard to tell. Predominately smoke though...

going to hopefully get back to posting photos regularly. Yesterday was chilly and clear; high in the low 60s canoerers took off Golf wagon is now sold as a Golf in 'Murica. Ariete cute old red house me with messy beard. Child who got to the tower said "mask" and he and his mom put on his mask; felt guilty for being maskless and put mine on half a minute later rock cliffs some more photos

We went to the arboretum, me and the bois, two days ago on the 19th. Long photo album. Don't forget to check the spoiler. I'll pick my favorite photo of the day as the "thumbnail" The rest of the images: The bridge that will complete the fourth and final quadrant of the ring road around the city. Due to a landslide, a large pillar or pylon or whatever you call it fell into the water (not visible on the picture) Saplings often get abnormally large leaves in the fall. I've always thought of it as trying to get the most amount of growth during the first years to be able to grow taller than the snow cover as quickly as possible. This birch sapling is the most extreme example I've ever found. You can see the normal sized birch leaves on the ground. This one had leaves of a more similar size to rhubarb plants. River is pretty low. Normally only a few of these rocks will jut out of the water, if any. Never seen them this extensively before. Nice colors, though not quite at peak. Nudist beach in the left corner. Lots of trees, despite not being exactly yellow are still a fainter, more lime green color than during summer, although the low september sun is also a contributing factor. Entering the arboretum Japanese garden For chronology's sake I'll include this shot again of us on the rocks of the rapid. Arboretum as seen from there. After a fika on the rocks, we headed further up along the arboretum and river. The lighting was really nice and everything very pretty. We had another fika. You can never have too many fikas. Then on the way back, we went through forest part of the arboretum. Even more beautiful lighting in the woods. My friends found a log And I found a wooden hammock whose purpose I honestly have no idea of. There are a bunch of them and I think they might be bridges for squirrels? But I don't know why they'd make bridges for squirrels because squirrels can jump between trees no problem. Another view of the rapids. Honestly, I take the same exact shots every time I'm here. I'm like a goldfish looking at the same thing over and over again, going "Wow, this is so cool" every single time. The good thing about this is that it's very easy to compare with previous times and previous years. For example, I can compare the foliage 2020 vs 2019 really easily and conclude that 2020 is pretty much one week ahead of 2019 (despite both August and especially September being warmer) 26th of September 2019: 19th of September 2020: 26th of September 2019: 19th of September 2020:

The interior looks more like it is a summer cottage. Very retro.

A mod can add a spoiler, I have no idea how to. I climbed Mount Bierstadt yesterday which is my first 14er and the highest I’ve been. Distance: 7.3 miles Time: 5 hours 20 minutes Trailhead elevation: 11,700’ Summit elevation: 14,065’ <I had to get up at 2:30 AM and got on the trail at 6 AM when it was still dark It started above tree line and the first part was mostly level through willows It then began to switchback up the mountainside with the willows giving way to grassy tundra The ridge to the left of the summit is called the sawtooth which leads to Mount Evans. The whole place was a zoo, I saw hundreds of people over the course of the hike Eventually it turned into a boulder field before the final scramble up the summit. It wasn’t hard but I used my hands most the time the last 15 minutes. Views from the top: Looking back up at the peak from the trailhead: Beautiful fall foliage on the drive down: And a bighorn sheep: >

Foliage has started to peak already. It's not quite peaking yet, but it's probably just a few days away. Lots of nice colors. Though not all trees have fall foliage.

Went for a snow chase to Billapaloola State Forest @ Wee Jasper this morning (970 m AMSL), as the radar showed the heaviest falls along the Brindabella's western slopes for much of last evening…and my judgement was correct. Strikingly deep snow for this time of year! Back at Maragle, the snow wasn't nearly as deep, but it's still only 0° C @ noon/midday.

Yesterday's and this morning's gloominess gave way to some nice blue skies this afternoon. 👍

First signs of snow at higher elevations. This is Mt Thurston outside Chilliwack (not my pic). Its highest point is 1600m but I don't think this is that high...
