Have you tested? I guess I am Eastern European, not Nordic.

I think it would be interesting to get a test, but not so much that I'd pay £100 for a test or whatever the going rate is.

It would be interesting, but I wouldn't spend money to take one.

It would be interesting, but I wouldn't spend money to take one. Yeah pretty much that. And I also don't feel like giving strangers free access to my DNA. If they want it, they will have to pay up, not me paying them lmao.

My DNA should not be accessible to anyone else on that database, unless I am informed first, I give consent to it being used, and they pay me.

Yeah seems like your heritage is from Eastern Poland/Western Ukraine. Pretty cool, wonder how your ancestors ended up that far north

Anyway, seing other results from Latvia, nobody gets anything much apart from Eastern Europe. Genetically, Baltics are similar if not identical to other Eastern Europeans and have nothing in common with Finland and Scandinavia.

Entirely European , not surprising though because Northern Europe and Western Europe were generally isolated from much of the rest of world throughout history so less foreign invaders and mixing . Genetic diversity is least in Northern Europe , greatest in subsaharan Africa if I’m not mistaken . Your entirely European genes makes you an ideal for white supremacists! The most pure of the pure. Mine would be interesting I think, probably mostly Arab with some European and other . I do wonder about the accuracy of these tests though . They say the more people take them the more accurate they get .

This one isn't mine, my mother did this test. I'd expect similar results since both my parents are Croatian.

Yeah remember seeing a map that Baltics are super similar genetically to Russia. Makes sense as there is a body of water separating Baltics from the Nordics. Although I bet Lithuanians have more Central European heritage

There is much bigger genetic drift in Northern Europe than Central and Southern Europe, because of very small "initial" populations, and completely missing out on the Great Migration after the fall of Rome. This is especially pronounced in Finns. While Estonians have some drift towards Finns (especially in the southern half of Finland), Latvia and Lithuania has none. Finland also lacks the Y-DNA R1a haplotype, which dominant in Poland, Belarus, Ukraine and Russia, while the Baltic States have around a 30% share each of this.
IDK how accurate this map is, all these gene maps must be taken with a grain of salt, but it seems Baltics are most related to... well, other Balts, and people from northern Russia, who originally weren't genetic Slavic speakers at all.
Correlates quite closely to this map of the Slavic Expansion:

Another reason why I don’t agree with those ambiguous Central/Eastern countries referring to themselves as purely “Central Europe”. Genetically people in eastern Poland or Lithuania are much closer to Ukrainians and Russians than they are to Central European people

Ironically, I have taken the test to find something exotic. But most Europeans are just 99-100% European as me, I am not an exception.

Well for Latvia standards it’s exotic lol, since your origins are much farther south
Wonder what my test would be. Probably much higher Ashkenazi %, and I’m suspecting heritage from Central Europe cause I think my appearance is pretty Central Euro

Russians in Latvia account for 25% of the population, Belarusians 3.2%, Ukrainians 2.2% of the pop. In one of the major cities, Daugavpils in the east, Russians are over 50% of the population.
