On January 5, our high of 5 (-15 C) was a daily record low high and the coldest high in 14 years.
On January 12, our high of 60 (16 C) was a daily record high.

IDK where to put this, but I stumbled on these records. The date when the river Aura has been ice-free: the 1) note is from 2008, when the river didn't freeze at all, saying "nothing to report".

www.feargod.net/wa-1956snow.phpArticle about the record snow event in Western Australia on 26 June, 1956. Perth recorded it's lowest max of 8.8C and the perth hills recorded snow. Most of the south west and wheatbelt of western australia were covered in a thin blanket of snow. Most snow accumulated to 1-3 inches in the great southern district.

^^^^
As much as I would love it to be true, apparently this is a glitch and the software has defaulted to 0.0C? Are there any hourly readings?
I've heard of places near the south coast of Australia getting 4/40 diurnal ranges before so I'm guessing this could be feasible somewhere down there at least.

There aren't, Arkaroola only records 9am/3pm temperatures. Closest station at Leigh Creek had a minimum of 19.4Β°C, so its true low would be close to that.

i guess this story would fit in here. from vΓ€derbloggen today. Most snow in the country has been reported from GΓ₯ltjΓ€rn in Γ
ngermanland by 175 cm on February 2. With such values at the station level, it is no wonder if the snow would be two meters deep at the most exposed places in the terrain.
Such a place is the E4's passage over Skuleskogen. According to private measurements we have learned, we measured here on Sunday February 3rd between 180 and 197 cm in different measuring points.
a nice pitcture taken there. looks surreal. edit: here's another

Record snow event coming our way for the next two days. In fact, Williams Lake, BC set a new record for the most snow ever recorded in a single day in February two days ago with 18.2cm (the old record was 15.2cm). And now 50cm are forecast over two days, so the new record could be broken twice this week. February is normally the driest month of year, so this is VERY unusual.

Remarkable High over Scandinavia now. Many stations in Finnmark province in northernmost Norway set new record for high air pressure on Feb 26th, up to 1055.6 hPa credit: twitter.com/MeteorologeneOn Feb 28th 2018, the Trondheim-Voll station set a new record for high air pressure for February: 1033.3 hPa. Recording since 1944. This is the fifth time in just the last three years that a monthly record for high air pressure has been broken in Trondheim. Are we getting stronger Highs? This also brings cold weather. Last night Trondheim Airport Værnes recorded the coldest low since 2010: -23.5°C. If that happens again this night, the all-time low for March at the airport will be broken. So this is pretty extreme for late Feb. The high today at the airport was -9.1°C so there sure are diurnals here. Too bad I was in Oslo then. Again the airport much colder lows than Trondheim-Voll, which had low -17°C. -42°C at Folldal (694 m) last night, new record for this winter for Norway.

This is actually not a record but impressively close to one: today (Feb 28) Bingley had a high of -3.9C, while the lowest maximum recorded in March anywhere in England ever was only -3.3C We're not supposed to be quite cold enough to break that record tomorrow but I'm still expecting us to break our own March low maximum record of -1.3C.

I wouldn't be surprised if we're currently breaking some records.
Its been such a long time that we've got this cold.

Several stations set new all-time record lows for March in Norway. Also, four provinces set new all-time record lows, although some of these have relatively new stations in colder places, such as Folldal in Hedmark province. Folldal (694 m) was coldest of all with -41.8Β°C. Old record Hedmark: -39.5Β°C from 1949. Folldal started recording in 2011, no station at that place earlier.
Oppland province new record low: -40.7Β°C at Leirflaten (599 m), also a relatively new station (recording since 2012). Buskerud province new record low with -35.5Β°C at dagali (798 m), old record -34.5C from 1932 (!). In all 24 stations set new record lows for Feb. Not in Trondheim - we had the coldest low the night before, so in Feb.
Bergen (Florida) also set a new record low for March: -12Β°C.
Sun record: TromsΓΈ had the sunniest Feb ever recorded with 96.5 sun hrs. Remember they get their first glimpse of the sun (unless cloudy) on Jan 21. after the polar night, so days are short in the first half of Feb. Gamanjunni (1236 m) on the same latitude but east of TromsΓΈ even recorded 141.2 sunhrs this Feb.
Trondheim (98 hrs) sunniest among the main cities in Norway in Feb but far from any record.

Bingley had its coldest March day on record as well, -2.8C going by 0600-1800 or -2.2C 0000-0000, whichever one will officially go down in the record books. Just having a look at some of the highs around the country yesterday, I have no idea why these are only listed to the nearest degree but some of these look absolutely unreal for the depths of January never mind March, -4.0C highs in mild places like Cardiff, Bristol, Exeter etc?! Oddly enough I don't actually know where to go to check if these are records but I assume most if not all of them are, I'm sure I'll see it confirmed somewhere. The record low March maximum for the whole country (-4.6C for the whole of the UK, -3.3C for England) look like they've gone as well.

The five coldest March days ever recorded in Bingley (since 1973)
(-3.9C, 28 February 2018) 1. -2.3C, 1 March 2018 2. -1.7C, 2 March 2018 3. -1.6C, 3 March 2018 4= -1.3C, 11 March 2013 4= -1.3C, 24 March 2013
If I did the same list for the other months I'm pretty sure most of them wouldn't have any days from the past five years, March is trending warmer as well so to get a result like that is a real statistical fluke.
