The five coldest March days ever recorded in Bingley (since 1973) (-3.9C, 28 February 2018) 1. -2.3C, 1 March 2018 2. -1.7C, 2 March 2018 3. -1.6C, 3 March 2018 4= -1.3C, 11 March 2013 4= -1.3C, 24 March 2013 If I did the same list for the other months I'm pretty sure most of them wouldn't have any days from the past five years, March is trending warmer as well so to get a result like that is a real statistical fluke. Updated after yesterday: (-3.9C, 28 February 2018) 1. -2.3C, 1 March 2018 2. -1.7C, 2 March 2018 3. -1.6C, 3 March 2018 4. -1.4C, 18 March 2018 5= -1.3C, 11 March 2013 5= -1.3C, 24 March 2013 The 17th from this month would also be on that list if it wasn't for the early hours of the morning being relatively mild. Most Marches are still warmer than average these days as well, it's just that 2013 and 2018 have both thrown some really freakish easterly cold spells at us out of nowhere.

This year's cold spell blue anything in 2013 out of the water.

11.8C was the overnight low in Bingley last night, the joint-warmest April night on record We're forecast 12C or so for tonight as well, so the record might not last long.

April has been much colder and snowier than usual. I'm not sure but some local records probably have been broken. I can't remember the last time there was lasting snow in April here. Also April is starting off colder than an average March. Eastern Wisconsin just had a large snowstorm, so they are probably breaking snow depth records. Here's a map of snow depth, over 50cm on the ground still with more snow falling now. Usually there's no snow this time of year except in the northernmost parts. The range over 50cm was larger two days ago but the snow compacted and might have melted since then. Also check out the 1 meter depths in Ontario! That's going to take time to melt.

The overnight low last night was 13.4C, but since it's just gone from 15.4C at 10 am down to 9.7C at 11 am when a heavy shower passed by it won't count. Boke

my hunch was right. 27.2C in oskarshamn a few days ago was indeed the highest temperature recorded so early in the year in sweden
google translate
Friday's heat record Never before has it been so hot as early in April, as it was during Friday.
Friday's warmth in eastern Götaland is unprecedented in Swedish weather history. The highest temperature was 27.2 degrees in Oskarshamn. It is the highest temperature noted in the country on April 20 or earlier through all ages.
Looking at the statistical rolls for the maximum temperature for April 20 or earlier, it is found that the previous record was 25.5 degrees in Skåne Osby on April 15, 1952. The Swedish temperature record for April is 29.0 degrees in Genevad, Halland, April 27, 1993 .
In many other places in eastern Småland, Östergötland and Södermanland, you experienced local "this early in the season" record, including in Stockholm at 23.5 degrees.
Tied April record for Västervik Individual stations hit April record, or at least touched it. 26.8 degrees in Gladhammar outside Västervik is a April record of April 27, 1993. The measurements began in 1859 for the linked Västervik / Gladhammar series.
Last we were even hotter in April than Friday's 27.2 degrees was April 30, 2000 when Småland Markaryd noted 28.8 degrees.

This is a bit old, but there was record-breaking snow in eastern Wisconsin last month. The biggest storm was around the 15th of the month, and the highest report I remember was 29" for that storm. With the wind, snow drifts were up over 5 feet in places. Official snow depth peaked at 19 inches at the Green Bay airport. The storm gave them 24" of new snow, their second largest snowstorm on record, in any month. Their previous snowiest April was 15", for the entire month.
April finished with 36.7" snow and 4.87" total (93cm and 124mm) Here is the NWS Record report for the storm.

Most stations in Sweden will beat their old May records by a degree or two, except the ridiculous anomoly that is Umeå. 5 stations are guaranteed to reach 400h, and most stations in the country will beat their old record. Today Umeå got to beat its PATHETIC 26.6'C record (2'C colder than everywhere else in the region. Only 3 non-island (or thin strips of peninsula) locations have a lower record, and those are in the fells near the Norwegian border. Only temps up until 11 are available on Ogimet so far, which was 27.0'C at 11. In other news, Skagsudde, a lighthouse on a narrow peninsula close to Umeå had a record of 22.9'C. At 11 today they had already reached 25.5'C, smashing their old record by 2.6'C as early as 11 in the day. In fact, they beat their old record before 9 o'clock in the morning at which the temperature was 23.5'C. That's pretty cool.

Rena May 15th: low 0.8C, high 26.7C Tynset from 0.8C to 26.8C on May 24th. Dividalen (inland Troms) from -1.5C to 23.9C on May 16th As I mentioned, Røros from 0C to 25C.

Our final record was set at 27.8'C. Not a great May record but more respectable than 26.6'C...

Turku seems to fall a bit short in getting a 15C mean temp this May. Lohja Porla and Helsinki Kumpula seem to be the best candidates to reach this "magical" mark.

Uppsala broke their May record since 1722! 29.7'C vs 29.3'C.
EDIT: Nvm, Uppsala hit 32.8'C in 1841.
And Skagsudde broke their record of 22.9'C by fucking 3.6'C!! Records go back to 1962

The 31.4°C in Etne on May 28th crushed the 64-year record of 29°C for Hordaland province (where Bergen is), also new record for SW Norway. Bergen itself recorded 29.8°C also crushing the old record with more than 2°C, recording of temperature there since 1858.

Gothenburg has reached at least 30.2'C today, beating the record since 1901 at 29.7'C. However, they probably had a higher record in earlier recordings but that record isn't easily available.

Hallands väderö, an island between Gothenburg and Malmö, reached 30.1'C today. That's pretty incredible for an island. The island is pretty close to the mainland, but it's absolutely tiny too. Very impressive record!
