Everything is brown and dry. Been clear and sunny a lot lately. NW Jersey looks so similar to Western PA. Big hills, trees, bushes, everything.

Photos from yesterday. Weather was sunny, temps climbing to upper 40s before snow showers arrived that afternoon. Gila River at Gila Cliff Dwellings

Thought I might be able to catch some lightning today, but no. Just boring rain showers.

Went for a nice long walk this evening while it was 13C. The strong wind from earlier in the day had died down to no more than a light breeze and as you can see it was bright and sunny the whole time. Those first warm days after winter are truly magnificent Snow melt is coming along nicely, there's still plenty left in grassy areas but the sidewalks and roads are starting to be nice and bare, though there are still some pretty nasty areas on some sidewalks. Decent amount of dust now too.

Chestnut trees are beginning to leaf out in the UHI (see the background)! This means it's soon birch pollen season. This was exactly 3 years ago! Different landscape then: cdweather.boards.net/post/41860/threadNone of that this year, with a 9/1°C hi/lo. They opened a second stretch of the elevated circle line to strollers: Noice!

Did not take pics today but definitely saw plenty of buds on trees, and the forsythia are almost in bloom. Cherry blossoms should start bloom in about a week and we should see leaf out mid April.

Kalgoorlie trips, not many photos taken because I was there to suprise a friend and have seen all the usual sites many times before anyway. The Super Pit: used to be the largest open cut mine in the southern hemisphere, believe it's now the 2nd largest. Salt Lakes A staple of Kalgoorlie culture. See the mines, have a classic pub steak and chips, go panning for gold! Get your car stolen, burnt and dumped in the salt lakes!

There was plenty of sunlight and an absence of wind outside today. Pleasant enough to walk for almost a couple of hours while wearing a T-shirt and shorts. Felt a proper spring atmosphere for the first time this year with the noticeable sun strength compared to earlier in the month. Love the Sakura season, glad that I could do a bit of Hanami in France.

Went to Cypress yesterday after a major multi-day storm. It was +2C and sunny. Very comfortable conditions. View from my car in the parking lot: Good shot of the snowdepth...at least in this particular location: There's a person up there for scale...

Went to Cypress yesterday after a major multi-day storm. It was +2C and sunny. Very comfortable conditions. View from my car in the parking lot: deep blue sky there; with the non-wintry sun angle must have had nasty glare. I got a sunburn from being out in sun reflecting on snow Sunday.

Overcast yesterday, lads. Sunnier today, but took no photos. Highs generally in the low teens.
