Nice and green in Paree. Wonder how much of this greenness is due to the UHI. Yesterday saw snow during 7'C and sun. It's hard to see the snow flakes in the image, but thebsun was shining, the temperature was 7'C, and the dew point was -8'C and snow was falling. Took a video a few minutes later when there was heavier snowfall. Had this kind of weather on Tuesday. Snow at rediculous temperatures. It happens mostly after cold fronts in early spring.

Days are getting so long now! Despite our 12.30 noon the sun doesn't set until 19:50. 14:17h daylight already. This picture was taken at 19:11. Nice snowshower in the distance And this is at 20:40, still reasonably bright. They've put scaffolding all around my balcony now due to some facade renovations. For some reason I have a really strong urge of just climbing onto the scaffolding and just being there. I think there's some innate need in every boy to conquer high places that aren't meant to be conquered.

Yesterday was rainy with mid-winter temperatures of about 7°C. Nevertheless spring is still in full swing.

Out of the curiosity how much is the rent in that part of Umea?

I think there's some innate need in every boy to conquer high places that aren't meant to be conquered. I really like those four buildings, they look pretty modern and add a nice vibe to the pic. Out of the curiosity how much is the rent in that part of Umea? Those fancy buildings are pretty expensive. About 900€/mo for a two bedroom apartment of around 80m². Mine is a 37m² studio apartment and is about 330€/mo. Heating is generally always included, sometimes electricity as well. A fun note is that rent isn't that dependent on location, it's almost only dependent on how old the apartments are and other qualitative aspects of the apartments themselves. Oftentimes apartments in the very city center are cheaper per square meter than ones in the more "ghetto"-ish neighborhoods. Not that there are actual ghettoish and criminal neighborhoods, but there are a couple that have worse reputation, known (in a lighthearted manner) as the hood.

Visited my favorite place to walk in my area - Allapattah Flats Wildlife Management Area. It was very hot and muggy before the storms this afternoon - upper 80s F with mid 70s F dew points. This hammock contains many uncommon deciduous species at the southern end of their range and lots of rare tropical species that like the rocky soil, as well. Back home, after the storms today

Went on an excursion to the rapids/arboretum with my friends to grill sausages in the spring sun. The snow adds some really nice contrast against the rocks and the open water. There were some snow showers the day before so any snow covered surfaces had fresh, extra bright snow on them (since the snow only settled where there was already snow). Non-native conifers at the arboretum. Though they kinda just look like the normal Norwegian Spruce. This rhododendron doesn't seem to have taken the extreme snow amounts this winter very well. This one managed better Rapids I love the last-year's grass of spring The arboretum part of the area is a lot more interesting once the leaves have sprung... Fire. The sausages we grilled were vegan. Pretty expensive, and not the best consistency, but the taste was pretty good. Very nice weather. Blue dome sky, about 8'C, and barely any wind. Thought this was a nice photo of the dog until I took notice of his nether region. Dog on the river. Wouldn't have ventured out on the ice myself, but there were fresh footsteps from a person on the ice so I guess it was kinda fine I suppose... These hills in the background look so much more hilly in real life lol Eventually we left the fire and ventured into the woodier parts of the arboretum. This particular part was supposed to contain trees from NW America, so it was mostly conifers and so it didn't matter as much that all deciduous vegetation was dormant. These were douglas fir IIRC. And on the upside, the lack of leaves meant you got a better view. Also adds nice lighting Mud. Then we went to take in the vista over the rapids. WoW-streamer for scale. I'm sure many of you recognize this place very clearly since it's my favorite excursion destination and I've posted many pictures from here. It's also my favorite place for swimming/playing in the water. In summer it's like a water park with a myriad of pools, small waterfalls etc. with really warm water due to the rocks and shallow water. Last June the water reached 26-28'C in the pools, with maybe 21-24'C in the more free flowing part of the river. Some very small pools could reach well into the 30's. Sunset, still no signs of any clouds. 19:26 Much less snow in the city. Dusk at 20:50 SMHI's snow map has had a green dot over Umeå for like a week now. The snow station by the southern fields (more exposed to winds, tends to melt quicker) started recorded 0cm on the 8th of April. From space Umeå does appear as a spot of less snow, but large fields don't appear quite snow-free yet. (Image from yesterday)

The snow in this slope has barely changed at all in depth since weeks ago, despite the first half of April having averaged 6.0/-2.4 (1.8'C mean) and 113h of sunshine. Today: 3rd of April: There wasn't even 10cm on this lawn two weeks ago, yet there's still a few centimeters left. The city is mostly snow-free now though. Apart from snow piles, north facing slopes and shaded areas, the snow is mostly gone. Large album today too:

Peak springtime scene here from Tuesday 4/13. Grass is even greener now than the photo with the rain today. Can see plenty of leaf out action in the background. Pretty much everything is at least beginning to leaf out. Couple weeks and we'll have a more late spring look with full leaves.

Some northern lights tonight. Unfortunately the light pollution is pretty high where I live. Better approximations of how it actually looked...
