I honestly think England have their noses in front at the end of day 4..... but as you say anything could happen... If not for that stupid declaration on day 1, and Bairstow dropping everything, this match would be over now.

Well if ya's get up and win, that Declaration will be seen as a stroke of genius... and yeah... the 'Keeper should be picked re the Keeping skills... batsmanship is always secondary imo...

1-0.... famous victory for Australia over the old enemy.....despite the intervention of the weather, the game went right down to the wire... I hope Stokes doesn't get panned too much, but it'll be the day one Declaration that will be analised ad nauseum in the next few days...

1-0 to Australia. Poor fielding cost England that match, plus Australia playing as good as they possibly can in England.
Ben Foakes keeping and England win 10 times out of 10.
I still expect England to win 3-1 or 4-1, depending on the weather during the Old Trafford test.

pretty happy with that after being sent in to bat on a green top Poms fought back some with those 2 late wickets.... we need 400 plus I reckon.... the pitch will flatten out some and the Poms could have the best of the batting conditions

Their pacers were underwhelming, given the pitch condition and weather. 12 no balls were bowled. Tongue looked alright a couple times, he has some extra pace which is challenging. There were a few missed chances by England too, but that's their own fault. Weather doesn't look too flash for London throughout the 5 days so we need to be on point when we bowl.

Faaark... losing Lyon puts a dampener on our Ashes chances... the apprentice Todd Murphy will fill that role well

Lightbulb is out for at least the rest of this test. Maybe a McGrath in 2005 moment?
Tomorrow's forecast is cool and cloudy, 19-20c so could be good for bowling in the morning. Hopefully England can get through that and put up a 500-550 score, then a few quick wickets in the evening and it'll be game on.
As it stands, I think a draw is the most likely result though.

Well that's twice now that England have thrown it away by themselves from a strong position. Today is a good bowling day so we will need to skittle Australia cheaply and be batting again by this evening.

A controversial umpiring decision going against Australia in England? Say it ain't so!
I didn't watch yesterday but it must've been akin to torture. 50 overs of nothing but straight up bodyline and then shit like that happening

Root was given out after the Australians claimed a grounded catch in the first innings, so this grounded catch being given not out was a good umpiring decision.

Because the rules state that you have to be in control of the ball and your body, not sliding the ball along the ground to steady yourself as Starc did.

Mankad all the Australians in the 3rd test, and appeal without a warning.

Just seen the catch, definitely not out going by the rules as I've always understood them.
Bairstow was out, although some may argue it was not in the spirit of the game.
