Mt Baker today from Seymour @3350' asl and 33C neicloudless as expected. looks a bit hazy over the Fraser valley. hopefully will be on the slopes of Baker in 3-4 weeks. I remember seeing Baker from the Fraser valley 10 years ago, looked impressive and didn't expect it so close. 33°C and deep snow must be among the hottest temperature recorded on snowcover. alex992 tommyFL

Even the north shore mountains had the haze. Very very weird.

Spotted this a couple weeks ago. I dunno how the folks in Guildford cope with these temps. Despite the extreme heat everything was nice and green.

Pics from around sunset today -- was 95 at the time with storms in the area out towards the Long Island Sound. Epic weather and epic skies. Love these hot summer evenings around twilight. Perfect.

Took a trip to the nearby Pontcysyllte Aqueduct world heritage site. A hazy day, but comfortable at 21C.

Severe Thunderstorms yesterday (6-30-2021) Lost an ash tree up on the hill behind my house - lightning struck and snapped it. Storm had more lightning that I can almost ever remember during one storm

The drought has become quite pronounced along the SSE coast. These are from Instagram: Hanö: Öland: Visby Not as extreme as 2018 but still a fair bit of drought.

Some recent photos... A warm/humid setting sun on June 29th. Temp was 29C/84F with a dew around 20C/68F. Took these today. Upper elevations are now mostly green. Some young fireweed and grass More vegetation that sprang from nothing. Quite dense in some areas. Looked more similar to subtropical than subarctic in this marsh. Although, there is still some snow in the top right.

Couple pics from Normandy in late June. Gray weather and cute houses. Flax crop. It can hardly be seen, but there are blue hues here and there. Normandy grows almost half of the flax in the World, not that it's a widespread crop. Old carport Some castle there In the parts of Rouen that haven't been bombed out:

Went berry picking on Saturday at Westham Island. Very pleasant there. So juicy and sweet. I picked all these in about 30 minutes. Windy in Squamish today. Lots of windsurfers. Porteau Cove. The water was very turquoise thanks to all the rapid snowmelt.

Certainties in life: Death, taxes, the weather being fully overcast whenever I bother to go for a hike. Very green, though. These roads belong to the sheep, cars are just guests. I was in the Berwyn range, a popular area for hikers, bikers, magic mushroom pickers, people who want to have sex with sheep, and UFO conspiracy theorists. Although these conditions are good for walking, they prevented me from having as clear a view as I normally would. The higher areas aren't as biologically barren as they might appear. The cool, damp conditions and acidic soils are perfect for the sustaining heathland. They're scientifically important environments that are full of rare birds, insects, even lizards & snakes. Unfortunately midges seem to like it too, they tried to feast on me as I headed back down. In 2018 hundred of acres were blazed by wildfires. You can still see the effects in many parts, but they are slowly recovering. The varieties of heather alternate with altitude. Until recently the tops of the mountains were charred black from fire, in normal times they're purple at this time of year. Parts of these mountains are owned by the military. I'm not sure if that's to protect the heathland, or to hide their Alien crash sites.

Probably spoke too soon about having a warm winter, the past week has probably been the coldest i can remember in Auckland. At the airport site, the past six nights were all below 4C, but a slightly more inland site recorded 4 subzero nights over the past week. The days have been warm enough however. ^ this forest of mature palm trees down the road from me still looks pretty good, although the kentia palms in my garden have all been pretty badly damaged from the frost And for some reason, the english oak in my garden is now in spring: the english oaks down the road still look like this however:
