Aside from February, Northeast US has been stuck in a below average pattern since November. Three below average months in a row, and an absolute garbage fire March with no rescue anywhere in sight December was our only below average month this winter. And as shitty as this March is, itโs somehow 1.4 F ABOVE average through 10 days. Thats what happens with a combination of warm lows and no extreme cold. Certainly doesnโt feel anything like an above average month though.

March is also 3.3ยฐC below average still here in addition to being the cloudiest on record so far. It's going to have a hard time avoiding being the worst possible March on record now especially if another easterly materialises.

No fuckin point fighting it. Might as well accept the fate of this backwards ass Marchcember and show the wonderful chart that's getting every netweather.tv cold ramper's willies hard: Beasterly Round 2. March goes all 2013 on us.

Wtf. The forecasts are saying Krabi in southern Thailand is going to have rain for 5-10 days straight. Is that even possible in the tropics? I thought the weather was supposed to br very changeable there. Especially since there are less than 9 rain days on average in March there.

I thought the weather was supposed to br very changeable there. Especially since there are less than 9 rain days on average in March there. That usually just means that rain is possible. Often you'll find such forecasts accompanied by something like "60% chance of rain" or something. It doesn't mean that it's guaranteed to rain.

Yeah, it's kinda like here in summer. We'll have a chance of rain on like 90% of days, but that doesn't mean it rains on everyday there's a chance. That's pretty common in subtropical/tropical regions where precipitation is convectional.

So basically it's really difficult to forecast weather in the tropics?

So basically it's really difficult to forecast weather in the tropics? It's just convectional precipitation is a lot more sporadic than frontal precipitation, or precipitation from a low pressure. You can have it storming in one area and a few miles down the road they get nothing. If you have 50-60% chance of thunderstorms, it'll rain somewhere in the vicinity more than likely but you have a big chance of lucking out and not getting anything.

Well the second "beast from the east" is coming! Hard to believe the same thing as early March could be happening again! To be honest I'll be booking a flight down to the Caribbean if it comes off. Can afford a holiday this year, so might have to be earlier than expected!

So basically it's really difficult to forecast weather in the tropics? Most days from June to September here itโs impossible to predict whether it will rain or not lol.

People getting angry on netweather. I used to whine about cold weather too. But it's pointless. Just a sad acceptance is all you can do.

I can refrain from whining about cold weather during the winter. But during the spring? Fuck that shit, I think I got a right to bitch about cold weather after putting with three months of it by this point. Spring is no time for cold and snow!

milder here today. good that the annoying ice chunks on the smaller roads and parking lots are thawing away before the next cold snap.

They are always moaning when we have normal conditions as they think it's above average (they seem to think that the UK has an Arctic climate rather than an oceanic one). Then they think we are being silly when we moan with crappy 21c highs in July and August.

January 2018 stats:
-4 straight 34 (1 C) highs -7/13 days so far have had a high of 34 (1 C)โunbelievably shitty stability -highest temp of 43 (6 C), lowest high of 32 (0 C) so far -nothing above 35 (2 C) in the 10 day forecast -could be the coldest highest temp of any March in history (back to 1872)

Finally have a legitimate weather station, no more fumbling with multiple devices and tedious data entry at the end of every month, all information is in one place.

I remember seeing threads about lowest diurnal range. I think it was on C-D. Svolvรฆr, Norway has to be one of the smallest with a range of 1.9C/3.4F in October and most months under 3C/5.4F: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Svolv%C3%A6r#ClimateIt's also a borderline Cfb climate at 68.2N which is really unusual too.
