If weather months were like sports seasons
May 2016: Your team plays like absolute shit. Through the first half of the season it looks like it's going to be a historically bad season, like the 2003 Detroit Tigers, or 07-08 Derby County. Not only that, but the playstyle is even uglier; it literally looks like an amateur team. However, in the last quarter of the season, the team has a magical turnaround and somehow manages to finish above average
February 2016: Your team has a good season and easily makes the playoffs. However, in the middle of the season your team inexplicably suffers an embarrassing loss where they get destroyed 0-69. Despite the fact that it was a good season overall, the only thing people remember is that one embarrassing loss
December 2015: Your team just wrecks everything in sight, and finishes miles ahead of anyone else
February 2015: Your team sucks major ass and manages to record the worst season in its entire history
March 2015: For the second year in a row your team is historically bad, but nobody remembers because the February 2015 team was even worse
July 2013: Your team has an amazing first 2/3rds of the season, but something changes, and the team slumps the last 1/3 of the season. You still finish in first because of how crazy the first two thirds were. You may not know it yet, but the slump at the end of the year is the start of a long decline, and one of the darkest droughts in your team's history
December 1989: Your team has a terrible historically bad season. However, your team has lowkey been developing amazing young players this entire time, and are waiting until next season to unleash them all. You don't know it yet, but it's the start of a yuuuuuge dynasty

^Interesting Idea. Iโll do it by years:
2015: Your team gets off to a slow start, goes on a historic losing streak, and recovers slowly. You then go on a winning streak near the halfway point, have an average middle part of the season and then have an epic turn around with several long winning streaks to finish the year. Unfortunately, you miss out on the playoffs due to the awful start.
2016: You start where you left off the finish the previous season and have an epic first quarter of the season. You go through a minor slump but then go on another epic run during the middle of the season but have a minor slump toward the very end and finish in 2nd place.
2017: You get off to a decent start and then go on an impressive winning streak. Unfortunately toward the end of streak, your coach gives all the players but your star player a bonus leaving him pissed off. You crumble over the next month with your star player very angry. You start to recover, have an up and down middle 3rd of the season but finish off the season on a high note and end up having a very successful season.
2018: Your team surges from the start, wih one of the best starts in history but then all of a sudden hits a wall and falls back to the middle of the standings. Letโs hope your team has a good finish to the year...

Search nowdata and then select nws Kansas City and then Kansas City areaโmonthly summarized dataโaverage tempโpor-2018, and sort highest to lowest.
Hope thatโs not too confusing.

Okay, got it.
10 warmest years on record:
2012 2006 2016 1998 1987 2017 2005 1990 2015 1999
Naturally, the 3 years since moving here (in summer 2015) are in the list. 2007 is #11, not listed here, which was the year I moved here the first time. Interesting. I lived in Topeka in 2006, and I can assure you it was exactly as hot there as in KC, based on this list.
Coldest: (1972 is listed above 1985, but part of the data is missing) 1985 1979 1996 1993 1978 1982 2014 2008 1989 1983
I don't remember 2008 being unusually cold - I do remember there was a day in January 2008, or possibly multiple days, that dropped below 0F. Probably just because I was young.

Guess what...WE HIT 42!!! Iโll repeat that again...FORTY FUCKING TWO First time in the 40s since the 6th, but still the 12th straight below average high. Back to cold tomorrow, but it was nice to have a sunny, average day for a change. I was finally able to spend a long time outside with shorts and a sweatshirt for the first time this month

If any Americans are unhappy with their spring so far, it's looking worse for the Swedes...

This spring has been pretty decent so far this year. Has been quite variable and interesting by our standards, and the forecast looks very up and down as well. I'd prefer it if it were cooler, but at least it hasn't been boring (by our standards).

One of the best runs by any team ever, just missing out on top spot.

nice WeatherUnderground about fast temperature changes in the United States. We've had plenty of shoutbox conversations on that, remember boombo alex992 there www.wunderground.com/cat6/extreme-short-duration-temperature-changes-usHere's a Northeast US one from this winter A dramatic example comes from Saranac Lake, in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York, where the temperature rose to 55ยฐF (after being at -32ยฐF on January 1) on the afternoon of January 12, only to plummet back to -30ยฐF on the morning of January 14โa drop of some 85ยฐ in just 36 hours.didn't know the 1911 drop was also an extreme synoptic event though not surprising The most infamous cold frontal passage in U.S. history was that which occurred in the heart of the U.S. on November 10-11, 1911. No other frontal passage this intense has been documented in modern records anywhere in the United States also stuff on places that have had a record high and low on the same day. The Black Hills extreme jump and drop sound like they're from the mountains pooling cold air, then clearing it, then it comes back again when there's a nearby stationary event. Only mountainous areas on the Great Plains.

Since March 17th to March 20th, the snowdepth at Trondheim-Lade decreased from 28 cm to 23 cm, while the snow depth at Trondheim-Saupstad increased from 61 cm to 72 cm (it was even 73 cm on Mar 19th). Both stations are in the city itself.
