This has to be one of the weirdest things I've seen all week! Satellite pic of the UK covered in cloud matching almost its exact shape, barely anything over nearby France, of course. This proves the existance of god. God has something against us.

Ffs, looks like we're heading for a repeat of the nightmarish 2009 or 2014 years the years without a summer. Just boring 70F highs every day

Potential ice day for Bunghole next Tuesday, April 17th. If true, would be one of the latest ice days on record

Potential ice day for Bunghole next Tuesday, April 17th. If true, would be one of the latest ice days on record Thankfully not here, lowest high in our forecast is 42 (6 C). But youโre at least getting into the 70s with no rain this weekend while we have 1 fucking day at 60 with pouring rain. Iโd gladly take your 70s and ice day.

Netweather forum now trying to claim that I am wrong about the recent cloudy summers by using the generalised Met Office maps that doesn't show anything from Heathrow, and comparing to the abnormally cloudy 61-90 period.
Why do they do it?

Why do they still display 61 to 90 averages?

Why do they still display 61 to 90 averages? I don't know. A lot of them seem to think the 60s was normal weather, rather than being abnormally cloudy and having the coldest summers of the 20th century. They actually think there has been nothing unusual with the last few summers, one even went as far as saying August 2014 was a completely average summer month in London, with it's temps 2c below normal and dazzling 134 hours of sun.

Thunderstorms forecast in Adelaide tomorrow night, which leads me to believe there may be a chance here. Will be windy as fuck as a polar attack enroaches, BOM forecasting 50km/h winds, which in Renmark translates to Hurricane Katrina. Should be some rediculous winds and wave heights in Bass Straight

Gabo Island, a cold, windswept rock just off the SE tip of Victoria at the NSW border, recorded 36.5C yesterday. Yes, a fucking rock in the sea in April!!! It's also by far the highest temp of the "summer", the highest temps during the actual summer months are:
Nov: 22.9C Dec: 26.6C Jan: 26.2C Feb: 27.7C Mar: 33.6C
Apr: 36.5C
for comparison, Apr 2017 maxed out at 22.5C

A certain section of Upstate NY (Syracuse and Bunghole) has only had three above average months (25%) in the past calendar year. September, October, and this past February. That's it. Just shocking

Do you think a tree will be hardier outside, with natural snowcover throughout the winter, or in a glassed in balcony without heating facing south-west? Because surely temperatures won't drop nearly as low in the coldest days as outside on the ground (or on an airfield), but then again a tree in a pot doesn't get much isolation either.
I'm asking because in our apartment we'll move to in June we have a rather large 8m2 glassed in balcony, and I was wondering what hardiness zone of plants I could expect to grow there. Obviously the growing season will be immensely longer and warmer since it's basically a greenhouse, which will aid with some plants. I'm curious about the winter though.
