# of above average highs by month this year in rochester:
January: 15 (48%) February: 17 (61%) March: 7 (23%) April: 3 (15%)
# of highs above 50 (10 C), average in parenthesis:
January: 5 (2) February: 8 (3) March: 2 (8) April: 5 (15 so far)
Just great. FEBRUARY had more 50+ days than March and the first 21 days of April COMBINED.
# of days above 60 (16 C)
January: 2 February: 3 March: 0 April: 1
PATHETIC.

Also, damn.April 2016 saw an average high of about 15.5'C in Edmonton, 2017 7.1'C and 2018 0.4'C so far. Things are turning around though, could see 20ยฐC this upcoming week. It'll be interesting to see who gets leaves first this year. I knew you did last year, but this year our April has been much warmer than yours, even if your May is bound to be warmer than ours.

Does it feel like the past few Marches have been particularly cold? You're not the only one. Let's look at the Central Park station, which has more than a hundred years of records. Using 6-year running average, the Marches in the 2013-2018 period have been the coldest since the Marches of 1967-1972! Is this just a coincidence, or a worrying trend? After all, we can excuse one cold March or two, but at this point subarctic Marches are becoming the norm

On the other hand, several months are showing an extreme warning trend. For example, the six Mays between 2010-2015 were the warmest in history!
The July between 2010-2015 were the warmest on record as well. Even with the crappy Julys in 2014 and 2017, the month of July is still the warmest it ever has been in NYC. Interestingly enough, there was a "cold epoch" in July between 1996 and 2009, which featured record cold in July many times. Thankfully we bounced back from that
The recent Augusts have been abnormally warm too, the period between 2011-2016 also had some of the hottest Augusts on record
You probably didn't need me to tell you this, but the recent Septembers have been by far the warmest in history as well. The 6-run average between 2012 and 2017 set the record for the warmest period of Septembers in history, a record owned before by the 2011-2016 period...and before that the 2010-2015 period. Lol.
2012-2017 also features the warmest run of Octobers since the late-1940s. The 2012 October was actually relatively cold, so if we get another warm October this year, it might end up being the warmest run of Octobers in history
The 2011-2016 time period also had the warmest Decembers on record, followed closely by the 2010-2015, and the 2012-2017 periods

Oh lord surely this is a once in a century event? ugh Not even close. Wouldnโt even be a daily record. Weโve had sub 40 f highs as late as May 10 and snow as late as May 19. Theres been 6 sub 40 f highs after tomorrowโs date and forecasts are still saying 43-45 f for the high tomorrow. So itโll be really shitty and well below average but not record setting.

3.6ยฐ C right now in Blayney...already! Will likely beat Cooma (the Southern Tableland's #1 frost hollow town).
