Impressive. Just goes to show how extreme and messed-up this heat wave is. Never thought I'd see it hit 120 F or warmer in Canada in my lifetime. Same here....astounding event ! Good to see the Wiki climate box for Lytton has been updated allready... was that you Ben ?.....lol Crazy thing is that there's now a good chance Canada will end up with a higher maximum temperature in 2021 than Australia (depending on how spring and summer play out for you).

Ashcroft hit its maximum at 7:00PM of 47.9C, Lytton was already down to 44.7C at this time. Ashcroft seems to hold the heat longer, must be topography. At 7:44PM: Lytton 41.6C Ashcroft 47.0C There's rumors out there of Lytton breaking 50Β°C? Can anybody confirm? Maybe they just rounded the 49.6C up to 50C, or readings on peoples vehicles in the area. Aren't there two lytton stations? Or was that lillooet?

118F in Hermiston, OR today which if certified is a new heat record for the state of Oregon Some places have 119F as the heat record for Oregon, which makes things a bit confusing.

This heatwave reminds me of the heatwave in France in June/July 2019 that absolutely trounced the original record temps. Some of the PNW and French climate boxes now look all weird with their all time records sticking out like a sore thumb.

I mean even Penrith has a higher record than Renmark. Penriff's is a result of UHI bullshit amped by foehn winds, so duhhhh.

Wish there was still a station available at Spences Bridge. Based on historical temps for that locale, if anywhere was to top 50c during this heatwave it would've likely been there or at Lytton.

Not that I've seen the AWS personally, but I know where Penrith Lakes is, and i wouldn't say there is a great deal of UHI there....and foen winds ? so what ?...its still a normal weather phenomena and while the temp is out of the ordinary, the winds aint.

Well not really UHI, but a very poor station placement which restricts airflow.

A low-UHI location can still have a lot of "micro-UHI" if it's located close to large sections of asphalt etc.
