Officially 100°F in Victoria. Next major barrier: 40°C. That would seem unlikely though. Victoria has recorded 99°F, didn't realize it was already capable of that. wonder if the west side of the island got hot, Tofino? Port Renfrew? 🖕🏿Mörön🖕🏿 Tofino airport is 35C but the actual coast is 28C.

Port Renfrew? 🖕🏿Mörön🖕🏿 We hadn't recorded 99°F until yesterday when it reached 99.86. Tofino was something like 95°F yesterday (and again today). Thanks to Environment Canada's infinite wisdom, we'll never know about Port Renfrew...

Thanks! It looks like the Gold River station is no longer operating? So hard to tell with EC's impenetrable web site. I wonder what the temperature was there yesterday? There's a good chance 41.5°C will be broken today. Yep - Good bet that record gets broken today at Port Alberni. Unfortunately it's no longer operating. Sign of the times at EC - so many stations have been closed down in recent decades. Wish we had more coverage of the lower mainland like before. Also wish that YVR wasn't the official Vancouver station because it runs so low in the summer, especially during heatwaves. Was probably 38c in east Van yesterday but YVR only hit 31c. High so far in Port Alberni is 42.5°C so looks like new record for Vancouver Island. This also exceeds the highest temperature ever recorded in Tasmania ( 42.2°C), just in case anybody's keeping score.

Temp steady around the 47.5C mark for past 45 mins, so probably not but who knows could spike again for a short burst. Yesterdays' minutely obs: dd.meteo.gc.ca/observations/swob-ml/20210627/CVLY/

47.9C (4:12PM) in Lytton, BC maximum so far; as of 4:41PM. As far as all-time records go, this is (approximately, since America seems to round their numbers): 3.9C higher than Dallas 2.9C higher than Chennai 0.9C higher than Las Vegas 0.3C higher than Cairo 0.1C lower than Monterrey 0.1C lower than Riyadh 1.1C lower than Timbuktu 1.9C lower than Mecca 2.1C lower than Phoenix Absolutely unreal!

Looks like the official maximum at Victoria YYJ is likely to be 39.4°C. The Gonzales station seems to have reached 39.8°C.
Not a bad effort.

The heat wave may be over now on the west side of the Cascades, but not on the east side! Look out for all time state records in eastern Oregon and Washington tomorrow. There's still room to break the brand new Canadian heat record as well.
