Darwin Airport ( 1941-2021 ) 12.4239°S 130.8925°E 30m AMSL Another well above average month for both max and min temps. July, on average, is our coolest month, however this year we recorded 10 days at or above 33c and only 11 overnight lows below 20c. As usual for this time of the year, no rainfall was recorded in July.

I know I'm not in Rome, but I'll post stats for my PWS anyway for now (yes, I asked for screenshots of daily max/min temps for both data for April, and from July 10th onwards from my mother, and of course, if you want to see other weather boxes let me know). Been a boring month, with a lack of real heat waves (seems lapse rates have been steeper this July; Ciampino AP reached 97.2°F (36.2°C) on July 31st, will post a weather box for it later), with a few shitty ass crummery days when the cutoff low to the north that brought flooding to Germany ushered in a cooler airmass July 14th-17th. Average dew point (true average): 16.6°C (61.9°F) Average dew point (min. dew point + difference between max/min DP / 2): 16.7°C (62.0°F) Max. rainfall rate (instantaneous): 9.14"/hr (232.2 mm/hr) on July 18th, 3:50 PM (wtf) Max. rainfall rate (15-min. average): 2.96"/hr (75.2 mm/hr) for July 18th, 3:40-3:55 PM Daily charts: It's a bit weird to include an April summary as well (I forgot I even had such a spreadsheet), but in case you're interested, here you go:

Sheffield July 2021 Summary
July was 1.4°C warmer than average, and there was a week long warm period that helped make it above average. It was also wetter than average with quite a bit of showery weather at times. The temperature of 30.0°C was recorded at the Met Office's Weston Park official weather station, but my nearest station missed it by 0.2°C.
Edit: Updated sunshine hours; July came in somewhat duller than average, which seems to be the new normal in the last 15 years during summer months.

Overall: Slightly warmer than normal (+0.5 °F/0.3 °C) with below-average precipitation (73% of normal) The 84 °F high on the 6th was caused by cloudiness and wind associated with Tropical Storm Elsa, which lasted through the night to cause our warmest low of the month of 77.4 °F/25.2 °C. On the 12th, thunderstorms from an upper-level low caused the temp to briefly drop below 70 °F. The middle of the month was characterized by dryness and increasing temps. Occasional thunderstorms returned late in month, but didn't produce any significant rain totals. A heat wave over the Southeast the last couple days had a slight effect, causing our warmest day of the year by mean temp on the 31st (86.4 °F/30.2 °C). True daily mean (average of 5-minute observations): 80.1 °F (26.7 °C) Max precip rate (10-min mean): 3.31"/hr (84.1 mm/hr) Max precip rate (1-min mean): 4.20"/hr (106.7 mm/hr) Max RH: 99% Min RH: 44% Max dew point: 82.8 °F (28.2 °C) Min dew point: 68.4 °F (20.2 °C) Max heat index: 118 °F (48 °C) or 96.1 °F (35.6 °C) with a 80.9 °F (27.2 °C) dew point Median time of daily max temp: 1:42 PM Median time of daily min temp: 6:22 AM

July 2021 SummaryCold and very wet, with a high frequency of W/NW frontal systems and likewise a considerable amount of snowfalls: the heaviest of these was a staggering 29.8 cm on the 24th–25th; followed by 16.4 cm on the 17th; 6.8 cm on the 3rd–5th, and 3.8 cm on the 18th. July 2020 to compare averaged almost 3° C (!) warmer and had only a trace snowy day as opposed to 7 snowy days—and was over 200 mm (!) lesser in precip. Anomalies @ Hunters Hill (1993–2020)• Mean Maximum: 6.5° C (–0.9° C) • Mean Minimum: 1.6° C (–0.4° C) • Precipitation: 265.6 mm (176.2%) ^Mind you, the 25th actually struggled to surpass 1° C during the daylight hours and remained well below 0° C until the mid-late afternoon, but had increased sharply after dawn on the 26th and thus ran afoul of the 9 AM reset.

A very warm month. Precipitation fairly average. This month had the highest average low ever recorded in Göteborg. Apparently the average temperature - and perhaps even more notable, the absolute maximum temperature - was higher than Paris this July That can't be very common. ...............

July had been very close to average here, and a very wet month with multiple strong storms on the cooler days: But, the deviation to average was mainly due to the above average lows, our highs remained below average on several days, so as a whole it felt cooler than what the data represents. If I were to guess without looking at the data, I'd say this month was below average based on how it felt as a whole.

I looked around some of the stations in Finland, and Kotka Haapasaari recorded an average low of 18.9'C! The average high was 24.3'C and the mean was 21.4'C. I believe this station must've recorded the warmest low in the Nordics this July, although I could be mistaken. One day they recorded a 24.0'C low! Lapeenranta Hiekkepakka recorded 25.2/18.8 with a 21.5'C mean and one 24.2'C low! Kotka Haapasaari had a 30 day continuous average low of 20.3'C on the 18th and 19th of July. Also, Lappeenranta managed a 23.2'C 30 day mean in mid-July, which is the warmest I could find in my (very) quick browse. Tampere UHI was 22.9'C at most, and Helsinki UHI was 22.7'C at most.
Stockholm UHI, in comparison, only peaked at 21.6'C with a final July mean of 21.2'C

That's extremely impressive, but July 2010 was even crazier on Haapasaari. It recorded an average low of 19.5C that month!

July was a very warm month in Saskatoon, well above average though not quite the warmest on record. We had a spectacular run of 15 days above 30C (we average 13.1 per year), four of which were above 35C (we average 1.3 of those per year). We also hit 40.5C at the beginning of the month, our hottest temperature since 1988. It was also a very dry and smokey month, with only 17.7mm of precipitation, more than half of which came down in a single brief rain event. We're also on track to beat 2001 as the driest year on record at the moment, with a total of only 109.9mm of precipitation as of the end of July, while that year we'd had 124.6mm by this point (we got 159.7mm total in 2001). We'll see if we suddenly get a bunch more rain in August or September. If it doesn't happen by October then almost certainly we'll beat 2001. With the record high of 40.5C in July, we’ve now had an 81.9C difference between the hottest and coldest temperatures this year (taken less than 5 months apart) and a 40.8C difference in coldest and warmest means this year. Even by our standards this is pretty impressive! Stats: Average high: 29.8C (normal: 25.3C) Average low: 13.0C (normal: 11.6C) Mean temperature: 21.4C (normal: 18.5C) Warmest high: 40.5C (July 2nd) Warmest low: 20.3C (July 2nd) Warmest mean: 30.1C (July 2nd) Coldest high: 19.2C (July 19th) Coldest low: 5.6C (July 23rd) Coldest mean: 15.2C (July 6th) Precipitation total: 17.7mm (normal: 60.3mm) Precipitation days: 5 (normal: 11.2) Highs above 40C: 1 Highs above 35C: 4 Highs above 32C: 9 Highs above 30C: 15 Highs above 25C: 28 Highs above 20C: 30

(Toronto) Cooler, rainy, and unsettled July, not what was expected after a hot (and dry at times) June. The first time in my 21 years in Toronto where July was cooler than June. The precipitation numbers makes it look more like the monsoon season in Beijing. For Pearson Airport, daytime high of 25.8C was 1.3C cooler than normal. Morning low of 16.7C was 0.9C warmer than normal. Precipitation was 61% higher than normal.

July was the 4th warmest on record in Turku, with 55% of normal precipitation. If it wouldn't had been for the cool, below average spell from the 19th to 24th, the month would've surely been the hottest on record.
Highest high: 32.5C (14th) Highest low: 20.7C (11th) Lowest high: 19.3C (21st) Lowest low: 8.9C (24th)
Anomalies from 91-20:
High: +3.7C Mean: +2.8C Low: +1.9C Precipitation: 54.5%
Highest temperature in Finland in July was 34.0C recorded on the 15th in Heinola. The lowest temperature was recorded on the 20th on Saana fell, with -1.2C. Saana was also, not surprisingly, the coldest in the country, with a mean of 9.8C. The coldest non-mountain station was Kilpisjärvi village with a 12.7C mean.
The three (four) warmest stations in Finland this July,
Helsinki Kumpula (FMI HQ): 26.6C/16.7C Lappeenranta Lepola: 26.2C/16.9C Kouvola Utti Lentoportintie: 27.1C/15.5C
Lappeenranta Hiekkapakka (sandy skerry on Lake Saimaa): 25.2C/18.8C
Utti recorded 6 consecutive days above 30C, which is of course a feat, but sadly totally unforgettable as it has been recorded numerous times. 7 consecutive days again has been recorded only a handful of times. 10 is the Finnish record.
Hiekkapakka recorded 10 consecutive "tropical nights", with the highest being 24.2C, which ties the Finnish record, recorded once in Kotka Rankki in the 90s and a Kajaani station in the 30s.
Coldest non mountain station,
Kilpisjärvi kyläkeskus: 17.7C/8.3C. Coldest high was 7.7C on the 22nd.
All in all a great summer month!
