Highs in the 60s here and severe thunderstorms expected this evening to close out March with a bang. Marginal / slight risk here, with enhanced risk into inland areas that will see more instability due to more daytime heating. Here at the coast, the cool seabreeze is more in control.

Windy afternoon and the temperature shot up to 72 F/22 C so at least a 40 F diurnal range today. Severe storms possible later.

Tonight might be a historic night, sadly. The coldest temp Turku has had in April during the new normals is -10.9C, and the forecast low according to FMI is -11C. Foreca however forecasts only -8C. The coldest the Artukainen station has recorded in April is -9.9C, so a station record might be broken. If we go below -10.9C, it will be the coldest Turku temp since 1977. Helsinki Airports 91-20 record is -12.1C from 1998, so that should be safe. Fingers crossed that it will be a fizzer.
Didn't happen. -9.0C was the low.

Some snow today, though the front isn't as compact as predicted over Normandy. Nice look in the eastern suburbs. Believe it or not, this is the first sticking snow of the season, and the first falling snow since November. This isn't the first time the first measurable snow falls in April, as it also happened back in 2008 (with more snow back then tho).

A snowy wintry day on 6th April if this is to be believed.

What a contrast to last year from an extreme to the other. Highs are still valid until 8:00 tomorrow morning to count though I don't think it will warm up further than 4°C.

Cold morning again in France. Awful news for orchards which are, as always now, significantly ahead of the schedule. The average country-wide low was -1.5°C this morning, but this is taking the mild NW quarter of the country into account. Among larger synoptic stations, the coldest were Romorantin and Nevers @ -6.9 & -6.6°C (20°F) respectively. The coldest in Paris region was -5.4°C/22°F @ Crouy-sur-Ourcq. Some stations sitting at a relatively modest altitude in the Jura recorded lows in the -20s thanks to the fresh snowpack, the coldest village being Les Pontets @ -21.5°C/-7°F at a mere 1000 m asl. Down to -25.9°C/-15°F @ the nearby Combe Noire sinkhole. Quite cold for April.

Knew it was cold but didn't realise it was quite that cold: Canberra's maximum of 13.6c on Saturday was the lowest so early in the year since 1978. A mate of mine who lives in canberra always reckons he doesn't need to light the fire until after ANZAC Day ( 25th ), but he weakened and lit 'er up last weekend. The median date at the current Canberra site of the first day below 15 is 26 April, so I think we can deem Saturday as being equivalent to a normal post-Anzac Day. And a chilly early April morning this morning as well....

High was 69 (21 c) today and despite overcast skies much of the afternoon, it was still very dry with dews in the 10s f.
Pretty variable forecast coming up, cooler the next few days, could make a run at 80 on Saturday and then highs in the 40s returning next week. No precipitation though so the cold days will just be useless without snow. This is the time of year I start rooting for non-snow precipitation here but none of that either so just a meh forecast.

Cold start of April. Today is probably the coldest day of the month with only 3C and graupel showers and sunny spells. Tomorrow should get warmer

Everyone should pity us.

With a low of 1.8C, yesterday was our first day with an above-freezing low since November 5th! The forecast still shows us dropping below freezing most nights this week but that's perfectly normal for this time of the year, still gotta wait another month or so before the lows are consistently above freezing. We also had a high of 14.6C, our warmest since October 17th. Ahh, it feels to good to have some proper spring weather at last
