Long term it might have decreased but in the last few years the number of days with snow falling has increased again at least anyway.

Even during the mild mid-decade period from Late 2013-Early 2017?

Even during the mild mid-decade period from Late 2013-Early 2017? Only 2014-2015 had lower than average numbers in those years here. 2016 had quite a few days, well into March and April which had 6 each. Early 2017 had tons - 12 snow days in February.

The very worst type of snow today, just coming sideways down the sky and turning into water as soon as it lands

That's an interesting map near the top of the page (page 12), nei. It seems like the trend this year outside the northeast and great lakes is low snowfall but in more places than normal.

We received 9.8 inches of snow this week, more than all 3 winter months combined. Wonder how often that's happened...

There's been more snow in a non-winter month than the three winter months several times since 1900, but the only recent time was 2011-2012. 1900-1901: 3.5" November and 4" April, but only 1.2" in DJF 1901-1902: 10.3" in March versus 8.9" 1927-1928: 5.6" in March versus 4.4" 1931-1932: 2" in March versus 0.1" (only 2.1" for the year!) 1949-1950: 0.6" in November and 1" in March versus 0.4" (only 2.3" all winter!) 1956-1957: 4.6" in March versus 2.7" 1958-1959: 3.4" in November versus 3.3" 2011-2012: 5.3" in March versus 2.3" 2017-2018: TBD in March versus 7.6" Honorable mentions: 1986-1987 with 2.1" in March and 5.9" in April versus 7.1" during the winter. 1991-1992 with 1.3" in March and 0.4" in April versus 1.5"
