To put into perspective how odd the 112cm of snow cover on our yard in Tavelsjö was to me, here's the maximun snow depth since 2000: Median for me has been 42cm. Granted, Umeå had 62cm as its max this winter, which isn't extraordinary but still in the upper 1/4. Umeå's record is 127cm in 1988.

It's snowing at -1C in Grande Prairie, AB right now with 10-15 cm expected to fall tonight. Winter is starting pretty early! It'll warm up again so it's more of a false start but still pretty early...

Snowing in Esquel right now. It's even accumulating. What the hell...
I wish my damn climate would decide to have ALL the snowy days just in July. That'd be pretty sweet.

Calgary is potentially going to get around 15cm (half a foot) of snow on Monday/Tuesday. We had light flurries this afternoon in Saskatoon and we're expecting to get periods of light snow tomorrow night along with chances of flurries on a day or two this coming week. It'll be interesting to see if it sticks around, our lows are below freezing and our highs are only just above freezing, plus it's been quite gloomy and the sun angle is quite low now. Would be absolutely crazy if our permanent snowpack began in late September/early October!
As interesting as this is from a weather enthusiast's point of view, it's also pretty crappy for my personal preferences - we had snow on the ground and sub-freezing temperatures until almost the end of April, I don't want it to come back so soon. I like winter weather in the winter, not in April, or September, or October... two non-frigid months down the drain this year, with another one very likely to join the club. Ugh.

Still snowing here, but even though temperature right now is 0°C the ground is too warm so it's not accumulating at all. This and yesterday's snow event are rare because they didn't start as rain. Same thing happened back in June. Snowing in Esquel right now. It's even accumulating. What the hell... I wish my damn climate would decide to have ALL the snowy days just in July. That'd be pretty sweet.
Still plenty of snow in the mountains despite warmer temperatures overall, with plenty of ski areas still open - it's hard to get motivated for skiing at this time of the season though, when days down here can get into the mid 20s C. That warm? Here we still haven't reached 20°C. Warmest was 17°C a few weeks ago.

Snow is currently falling somewhere in Umeå! We'll have to wait and see if the airport is recording any.
First snowfall recorded by the airport: 2017: 24 Oct 2016: 1 Nov 2015: 20 Nov 2014: 16 Oct 2013: 17 Oct 2012: 16 Oct (rain+snow, 22 oct for normal snow) 2011: 22 Oct snowgrains for an hour at night. There wasn't any actual snow until 5th of December! 2010: 14 Oct 2009: 23 Oct 2008: 30 Oct 2007: 5 Oct 2006: 12 Oct (snowgrains, 19 Oct snow) 2005: 26 Oct
And that's how far back it goes.

Tavelsjö (x marks the spot) didn't really get hit by the sea effect snow.

Cold desert Now there are four sunny days about the freezing point as the daytime high forecast in a row. I'm feeling rather sad about that this week's cloud cover below freezing failed to yield any snow whatsoever...

Lommaren it's similar here. I have had 9 ice days in November but only 2.3"/6cm has fallen on four days. Wish there was more snow around, only two days have had enough to make the ground white.

I woke up to a beautiful surprise today:
Started snowing here around 10:00, but the amount was pretty much similar to there, typical Altea accumulation.
