It seems that some snow flakes are falling in Bologna. As soon as I have some spare time I absolutely have to check which are the other areas where it is snowing today.

Got some big wet flakes today. Proper snow should start falling on the weekend.

As a continuation of my previous post, it seems that today snowed a lot on in the northernmost part of the Apennines, also at low altitudes in particular in the east side where it snowed even in Bologna and in the surrounding areas. I underline this event because this snow is really early for that region, in particular considering the altitude. Here there are a couple of pictures from Bologna this morning: Here there is the motorway (obviously this wet snow caused a lot of troubles for all kind of transports) Obviously at higher altitudes the amount of snow is higher. As an example, here there is a town on the Apennines called Pavullo nel Frignano, at an altitude of about 700 m.

First snow that will actually stay the night came this afternoon, but it looks like a narrow layer, only saved by the cold temps for now.
Will be gone very soon again!
What's a bit remarkable though was that it actually fell while below freezing, granted we're entering that zone now, but so often those first bits of snowfall tend to come at 0.5-1°C.

Yesterday it snowed in Lüdenscheid, didn't stick though. Is that the village where you live? I'm confused hehe... I'd like to photograph the snow, but my mobile camera doesn't handle darkness at all. Snow tends to fall after nightfall for obvious reasons.

No, I was just sitting in a train going through that town (I was in the Ruhr area yesterday). After a few weeks in my hometown I'm back in my university town of Marburg where I will live at least til August next year.

I always thought Lüdenscheid was up there! Both towns mentioned are in Hessen though, right?

We had Lake Effect snow flurries and sleet yesterday morning. It’s impressive that Lake Effect snow can make it all the way to the Atlantic on rare occasions.

I've been in Japan most of November and got back today. Here's a shot of a heavy morning snowfall in Asahikawa. That place is a snow-haven:

Humid fog snow in Linköping today. Has calmed down a bit though, hopefully won't cause any disturbance with the train going home

What were you doing in Japan? If I ever wanted to tour through Japan I reckon March would be the best time. Literally metres of snow in some parts of the north, while somewhere like Kagoshima down south is already hitting 17C average highs

I thought you might have had snow, no snow in Skipton but there's apparently 1 cm in Bingley, one of the cars on my street has a slight dusting on the roof as well.

Showers to the west are intensifying, so hopefully there'll be a more substantial covering in the morning!
