only had snow one or two evenings last month in the middle of a rainstorm. Hard to tell if it was really snow. Mixed. ECMWF had a rather big snow forecast in a model run on Dec 5 dropped down to 3-4 inches

I wonder if south Texas & north Mexico are most prone to snow in early winter or late winter? Happens so rarely hard to compare?

I would think early winter, December looks colder and slightly wetter in most locations than February.
Though the last time they got a major winter event down there was on February 1-2, 2011. Although I'm not sure I'd really call February 1 as "late winter" quite yet, seems mid-winter like still. Just like I wouldn't call December 30th "early winter" either.

Looks like we're getting snow at the same time lol! Though not sticking here. Maybe it will eventually if it cools down more.

Wasn't trying very hard here, was a mix between sleet, hail and drizzle, but then suddenly decided to hit heavy. Only lasted about 30 minutes or so, but the temperature won't get above 3C today, with potentially more snow for later

There's been a massive southward shift in the precipitation for tomorrow. Now looks like even I am only on the very northern edge and the snow totals won't be very impressive.

So on Thursday we were told that we could be expecting upto "4 or 5 inches of snow" here in York today. Obviously that wild fantasy couldn't happen, and now our forecast is for no snow at all. Even London is now forecast to be getting some snow ffs. Ridiculous.
There can't be many inland areas in the UK that are as bad as here for snow. Even London seems to get more snow than us ffs.

We've had 3/4 days of the white stuff now. Surprised you're not seeing some.

He and his wife went down there in his Porsche, so he's got absolutely no chance of moving that thing!

Absolutely zero snow in Norwich. Just heavy rain. Saw a weather map earlier, it's just about the mildest place in the country right now.

I got a sizeable dose of snow in Nyköping today, certainly made the bike trip to the station a bit more complicated. All in all amounts weren't too much though, about a couple of inches so no one even got out to plough it People just walked it down instead. #SwedenBeingSweden

Norwich had some heavy hail storms last night and then briefly a sleet/snow mix. It didn't settle but the hail froze overnight, so I had to scrape ice off my car for the first time ever!

Snow hasn't made much effort to melt here yet as it's not been above freezing really. When the above 0 temps come it will soon become a slippery lethal slushy mess though.
