White Mountains and northern Maine got a fresh dumping of snow. Big contrast between Quebec City or Montreal with further north

The snow that had a chance of reaching me moved north. No snow in the forecast now. But, look at the UP! Two feet possible.

Remarkable amount of snow.
That Australian vegetation does admittedly look a bit odd with snow though.

Morning of Apr 20th. Most places in Trondheim near the fjord are now getting green gras and flowers have been out for a while, but in a different part of the city (Saupstad, 135 m ASL) is still 51 cm snow on the ground! Inland at 285 m ASL in the municipality this morning 105 cm snow on the ground

Yearly totals for Milwaukee. Fall was above average, but winter and spring were below. 37.8 inches / 96.0 cm. Average: 46.9" / 119cm 33 snowy days. Average: 35 50 days with snow cover. Average: 59 Milwaukee compared to Madison. Similar climates, but Madison has less UHI and is further from Lake Michigan. This year had more difference than normal. Madison had about 50% more snowfall and days with snow cover. I added Rhinelander too, that is a small city in the north of the state, but not in the snowiest part. Winter was mild but fall and spring were cool, so the snow cover probably lasted longer than normal in Rhinelander, or close to normal. As you can see, the northern parts of the state get a lot more winter weather than the southern parts.

Sad snow season. Only ended up about 12" below average, but SO MANY THAWS. You can really see the missing snow in late December and January.
Compared to 2017-2018 Stellar season (Outside of Feb 2018)

Still a lot of snow in the European Arctic as we head into May, Sodankylä has recorded a metre of snow in May for the first time ever. Ridiculous snow depths in Tromsø for the time of year as well considering April averaged a mere 0.0C so not that cold. More snow on the ground at the end of April than the end of February! I don't know if you can get snowfall totals for there but their precip totals for the past few months have been pretty insane: Dec: 135 mm (avg. 106) Jan: 157 mm (95) Feb: 144 mm (87) Mar: 180 mm (72) Apr: 133 mm (64)

It has 24 hour sunlight now, too.
The snow depth maps at www.nohrsc.noaa.gov/nsa/index.html are showing a bit of snow cover to the northeast of Lake Superior and some deep snow in the hills north of Quebec City. Nothing left in the US at low elevation except maybe that patch in Maine. The hills by Quebec city are 500-1000m as well.

I'll definitely keep an eye on how long that takes to melt but look at the forecast for the weekend! I'd love to be there on Saturday, probably sunbathing weather yet presumably 80 cm of slushy snow on the ground still. Kilpisjärvi is going to keep onto its snow for longer, still 95 cm there and not likely to melt that quickly given their forecast. I'm guessing snow on the ground until about 15 June? Wouldn't surprise me if the lake was still frozen on midsummer's day.

It seems to be 2-4 weeks after the snow melts here, but the climate is much different and the snow is deeper there.

This is a photo I took last summer in far North Norway at almost the same latitude as Kilpisjärvi, just slightly south, and this was in Mid-July! Still some ice floating on the lake. Altitude: Slightly above 600 m ASL.

Looking at stats from 1959 onwards, last day with snow cover was 14 June 1993. On this day it had 90 cm of snow on the ground. And with this temp trend, the lake will definitely remain frozen until midsummer.
