Time to get the ball rolling here. Solid warm signal for the first half of September for much of the country, consistently indicated by models lately. I take it

Spring Temperature Seesaw To Bring Fire And Snow In Australia ( source: Weatherzone ) If you live in the southern half of Australia, take extra care when deciding what to wear this week because temperatures will bounce around like a seesaw. September is always a time of contrasting temperatures across Australia as warm continental air masses battle much colder air arriving from the Southern Ocean. The chart below shows one of these air mass clashes projected to take place on Thursday this week. Aside from helping to produce thunderstorms, generate blustery winds and elevate fire danger ratings, these contrasting air masses also make it hard to know what to wear from day to day. Maximum temperatures will swing by more than 10ºC in less than 24 hours in parts of Australia this week. Melbourne will start the week warm, cool down by Tuesday, warm up again on Wednesday and then plunge back into wintry weather from Thursday into Friday. Daily maximum temperatures could reach the low twenties on Monday and Wednesday, but only hit 12-15ºC on Tuesday and Friday. Adelaide will be mild on Monday and Tuesday, very warm on Wednesday and then cool down again on Thursday and Friday. Maximums are forecast to range from 15ºC to 24ºC within 24 hours between Wednesday and Thursday. Canberra’s temperatures will also jump up and down throughout the week, with the biggest shift in maximums happening between Thursday (23ºC) and Friday (12ºC). Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Hobart will also experience temperature swings this week, with maximums changing by 3 to 7ºC in 24 hours. This week’s drastic contrast in temperatures could see snow and fires occurring concurrently in different parts of the country. Catastrophic fire danger ratings are forecast to affect Qld’s Darling Downs and Granite Belt district on Monday, while Extreme fire danger ratings could also affect parts of the state on Monday Tuesday and Thursday. Meanwhile, snow is likely to settle in parts of southeastern Australia on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, possibly reaching low levels in some states on Friday. Be sure to check the hourly forecasts at your location each day this week so you don’t get caught out when the weather changes.

London was warmer today than at any point during July or August, with a high of 30.0c, beating the forecast by 1c.
Forecast for the next week: 5/9: 29/16c, sunny 6/9: 33/18c, sunny 7/9: 33/18c, sunny 8/9: 32/17c, sunny 9/9: 30/17c, sunny 10/9: 30/18c, thunderstorms 11/9: 28/18c, mostly sunny
September certainly making up for the atrocious July and mediocre August. It will be only the 3rd time since 1991 that the warmest day of the year fell in September (1991 and 2016).
At Heathrow, September has been warmer than August on 4 occasions (1949, 1956, 2006, 2021).
September was sunnier than August on 12 occasions (1958, 1968, 1971, 1979, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2015, 2018, 2020, 2021).

Monster diurnal today with the NWS forecast high being overperformed slightly, of 92.6/67.2°F (33.7/19.6°C) at my PWS. Woke up shivering in my blanket early this morning, but then I got this nice warmup Nice warm spell incoming before fall sets in as ridging that brought heat to the Plains gets pushed east: NBM (which is nearly as accurate as NWS forecast temps) suggests 96°F highs, which would be a first in September since 2014:

Thunderstorms in the area Saturday and today. I finally got a good storm Saturday with 1.13" of rainfall. Provided some relief for the severely dry conditions that had developed. Soaked right in the ground. Good storm coverage to my west and north today, but I haven't received much and temps have cooled to the mid 70's.
Looks like temps will remain above normal for a while, but at least it looks like we're getting into a pattern with better precip chances.

It's up to 102°F (39°C) in OKC and 103°F (39.5°C) in Norman, the hottest September temperatures here since 2012, and the hottest I have personally experienced as I was living in North Carolina back in 2012. Luckily, highs should only be around 90°F (32°C) this weekend.
