Unprotected cocos barely survive winters here, and a strong cold shamal wind can kill them. But the most common killer here is summer heat. I know some people who made their coconuts survive January and remain healthy, but then June and July came and killed them. This applies to most tropical plants here. Summer is what commonly kills them not winter. I mean ok a tiny med island like Kastellorizo can't obviously have the summer heat of Qatar. With some protection during the first few years I think cocos may survive on the island.
