Posting some pics from spring here because I forgot to, have just been busy. My favorite season
Peak cherry blossom bloom on March 14. Spring didn't get a particularly early start like last year, perhaps a few days earlier than average this year.
March 22, around peak spring, a nice rainy hike in some local parks. The leafing out lush green deciduous looking nice with the pines.
The eclipse! Only got to 81% totality here, but the weather was nice, 70sºF and totally sunny.
Things were pretty much fully leafed out by the first week of April.

I took some pretty cool pics from I-5, from Burlington to Arlington Snow capped cascades rising over the lowlands This gives you a good idea of the coniferous-deciduous tree ratio of the forests that cover the surrounding hills Rural western Washington!

Some photos from the past week: Bellevue Dome, from April 28th: Notice how green the lawn grass is. The foothills are greener than winter but still brownish. From the same day: > < May 2nd—the scrub is now greening up, this is from just outside of town by Pine Ridge: > < From a park on May 2nd. Still lots of bare trees, the cold snap two weeks ago really slowed down the leaf out: > <

more late march in California; these are in Marin County (county across the Golden Gate from San Francisco). First day got from a bus from San Francisco along this bike path walked 10 minutes and then it started to rain hard; stopped at a coffee shop to wait out most of the rain. then cleared up nicely. looking down at the beach got rained on again, but not too bad. heading north passed through the tiny town of Muir Beach skipped road walking by public steps going between people's houses. neat find pacific looking north; vegetation hasn't fully greened up climbing up to 1400 feet looking back down towards San Francisco forests in the wetter valleys San Francisco skyline above the hills, with rain clouds about to roll in, least intense rain bout thankfully forest on the way down really liked this forest back to chaperral rainbow!

weekend afterwards did a bike ride into the marin headlands and then continued up and over Mt. Tam (highest mountain in Marin) started in downtown San Francisco, didn't take many photos. one along the north shore of the city after crossing the golden gate looking towards the city headlands time to go down… fog rolling in interior paths were nice to bike on after exiting the marin headlands, a maze of bike paths, bike lanes and suburban road till I go to the center of Mill Valley. stopped for lunch. some streets lined with Redwoods trail up the mountain was drier and more sun exposed view from near the top of the mountain. southeast towards the Marin County suburbs north towards preserved land where I was going to next south towards the marin headlands and San Francisco north above the pacific wish I lingered longer road dipped into forest. i think these are second growth redwoods. at a junction, I'm going right, left drops down to the pacific. straight past the gate is a very rutted trail I did last year really nice descent thru redwoods, but unfortunately got stuck behind a slow truck. back thru towns; looking back at Mt Tam ferry ride out of Marin
