Went to my dad's side's crummer cottage probably for the last time, because we're gonna sell the place. Took some pictures from the boat ride back to the mainland. Though the sea doesn't look that rough, the small 4 m boat rolled quite a bit at times, so the pics are a bit tilted. Sun makes an annoying glare as well. The temp was 19C, wind around 25 km/h, direction about 100 degrees.

Finally getting around to posting these. Spent a few days camping in South Dakota on the way to Minnesota back in mid May. First stop was Custer State Park. Just drove the loop road the first night but saw lots of wildlife: Bighorn sheep on the way in: > < Ring-necked Pheasant: > < Burros (feral donkeys) > < Bison: > < Also saw pronghorn and a coyote although no pictures of them. Lots of neat rock formations. Severa very narrow tunnels through them: > < Hike the next morning, these are called the cathedral spires: > < Extended the trail to climb Little Devils Tower (6,959โ). Scenery reminds me of the Colorado foothills but more extensive: > < Looking over to Black Elk Peak, the state high point, which Iโd climb 2 days later: > < Did another short hike in the evening. Went along a ridge with nice views: > < Overlook off the loop road. Nice light on the prairie: > <

Went to a family friend's crummer cottage for midsummer, and there was an unpleasant surprise on the beach; a dead grey seal on the beach. On Saturday we tied a rope to it, and towed it by boat behind a nearby skerry, from where it eventually went with the current. Difficult to determine from the picture, but it was around 180 cm long, so not a full-grown adult, but certainly above 150 kg. Adult grey seal bulls can grow up to 2.5 m and 300 kg in the Baltic. Interesting tidbit is that when we towed it away, its testicles had already been eaten, probably by birds.
Dem seals gon get kild by unknown causes ngl hahahahaha.
Our doggo inspecting the seal from afar. Even dead it looked quite intimidating I think.
Blue sky, blue sea:
My mum and stepdad rented a caravan. Apparently bought from a dealership who thinks the south will rise again bror !
During the night on Friday the moon went so low that it looked like a second sunset:

Last day in Custer (May 16th) I hiked Black Elk Peak, the highest point in North America east of the Rockies (7242โ). Pretty standard hike though, trail was quite crowded with several school groups. Still a nice hike though. Didnโt take many pics on the way up due to not wanting to have to keep passing/repassing people. Pretty views of pine forests and rock outcroppings though. Peak in the distance from like a mile in, itโs the one with the tower if you zoom in: Summit had panoramic views in all directions: After coming down, I drove to the Badlands. Did a short trail that evening: > < Remnants of nearby storms produced a rainbow over the badlands formations: > < Ended at an overlook with a double rainbow: > <

yosemite may 18. first day I hiked the upper yosemite falls trail. got into the park at 10:40 and wasted time checking in, after getting lunch I didn't get to the trailhead until a little after 1 pm. not that hot of a day (80ยฐF at most) but the north side of the valley gets direct midday sun and the trail is steep so was an unpleasant climb especially the first bit. thunderstorms building on the sierra crest friend in mammoth said he got thunder & lightning and brief heavy rain. got an upper yosemite falls view at the top, you can see some snow on the rim at the opposite side. no snow on the sunnier north rim. reallly glad there were some clouds, much more photogenic Yosemite creek (river that feeds the falls) behind the falls was roaring. way more water than when I went 2 years ago. last time lost of people were wading in the creek. 0 today for obvious safety reasons mmm storm light, couldn't hear any thunder tho beautiful views of the way down
