coliseum with snow is a classic snow image IMO. Anyhow, anyone know if Italy has days of snow falling maps like the UK does? Curious how Rome compares to London in snow frequency. mar89 urania93 ?

^ I'll post highs later today. I started following weather in 2014, and I've never seen Europe get temperatures as low as this! Feels good when the Polar Vortex goes somewhere that's not the Eastern US lol think the last time was 2012? Turku had a mean of -8.4C in Jan 2016, over 4C below average. Moscow hit -29.9C that month.

Low this morning was 67 F (19 C), high today will be 82 F (28 C). 30% chance of showers in the afternoon.
Yesterday we got quite a heavy downpour with gusty winds and lightning, as if it were late June instead of late February. Makes me look forward to summer.

Beautiful day todayโ55 (13 C) and sunny now.
Our warm days this winter have been great since theyโve either had no rain or rain at night so I can actually enjoy them.
Tomorrow could reach 60 (16 C), again with sun then itโs back down to average. Next week looks extremely boring with the highs around 40 (5 C) and lows around 30 (-1 C) every day with little variation. At least itโs still supposed to be dry.

-2.2ยฐC high today in Paris-Orly, the coldest since December 31, 2016 (-2.6ยฐC). The low was the coldest since February 8, 2018. Btw this month is now 0.1ยฐC colder than January 2017!!11!1111!1!! Almost a nationwide freeze, apart from Levant island between Marseille and Nice. Pretty unusual that, I must admit. At least the dew point map features nice purple hues.

In 1991-2017, on average, Rome has 1 day of snow or rain mixed with snow per year (many years feature 0 days of sleet, while exceptional ones feature 5 days). I don't know an Italian snow falling days map, but from the main official weather stations these are the values for the 1991-2017 period: Campobasso: 15 Turin: 11 Bologna, Bergamo: 8 Milan, Bolzano, Forlรฌ: 7 Pescara, Brescia: 6 Rimini, Ancona, Verona, Venice: 5 Perugia: 4 Genoa, Bari, Florence: 3 Palermo: 2 Brindisi, Trapani, Rome, Naples, Alghero, Cagliari, Messina: 1 These data include every type of snow related precipitation: snow, wet snow, rain mixed with snow, sleet, ice pellets, snow grains and graupel.

Thanks. And days of snow that stick must be less than once a year in Rome? Seattle averages 7, but that might not include snow that doesn't stick. Still much less than England. How much snow did Rome get?

Epic cold snap in Europe, really cool to see Rome covered in snow! -2.2 C high in Paris is quite impressive for the time of year too.
Here, highs were 85 F (29 C) in HWO, 84 F (29 C) at FLL and 84 F (29 C) at FXE. I got caught in a rainstorm while running earlier today around 7:30/8 PM but ir only lasted about 5-10 minutes. Had to hide out in my car during it lol
Only 0.08" (2 mm) of rain recorded at FLL, and 0.23" (6 mm) recorded at HWO today, no rain at FXE.

Yikes! Brutally cold morning for Europe, well below from the average only except the southern two-thirds of the Iberian Peninsula. Many parts seeing the coldest temp since January of last year. Even far western region in the continent like Bretagne(Quimper, Brest) plummeted to -6ยฐC.

How much snow did Rome get? Snow accumulation in Rome is not common and doesn't occurr every year. There are on average 0,4 days per year of sticking snow. This time Rome got 10-15 cm of snow, including the coast.

Keep in mind that the average LOWS this type of year in places like Munich, Prague, Vienna are about -2C! Getting highs of -7/-8 in these sort of places is below average and then some! As for fucking Zagreb, average lows there around freezing, getting a high of -6 has to be a fucking record or some shit. Not your everyday cold blast, this is a LEGENDARY cold blast!!!
