Keep in mind that the average LOWS this type of year in places like Munich, Prague, Vienna are about -2C! Getting highs of -7/-8 in these sort of places is below average and then some! As for fucking Zagreb, average lows there around freezing, getting a high of -6 has to be a fucking record or some shit. Not your everyday cold blast, this is a LEGENDARY cold blast!!! Their record low in March was -18.3 and in February -27.3'C. pretty sure -6 high isn't that special. Record lows don't necessarily mean much if they happened ages ago. February record low in NYC is -26C. Yet everybody flipped out two years ago when NYC reached -18C in the middle of February because of how rare it is nowadays for that to happen. Looking at the available records, the last time Zagreb had a -7C high in February was in 2012, and that was in the beginning of the month. -7C is uncommon but nothing special in January and early February, by this time of year it's straight up rare

If the record low in March is -18 C, I'm sure a -6 C high is close to the record low high. Record low high is probably something in the -8 C to -10 C range.

Overnight low last night was 70 F (21 C), currently 79 F (26 C) with a 64 F (18 C) dew point so a bit more moderate than yesterday. Some dark clouds out to our west, rain today for the third day in a row?

Still nothing out on KB It hasn't really amounted to that much, has been short showers but quite intense. Like straight up summer storms. Looks like late spring/early summer out there the past few days with all the instability being inland. The sun is strong enough now to create convection/lift in the atmosphere.

Even in NYC or Upstate New York, a high 17C below average is very notable

We blew by the forecast and reached 64 (18 C) today. Happens only 1 in 11 year on average but itโs happened 7 times in the last 2 years! Also a new daily record.
This should almost definitely make this the 2nd warmest February.
This would be the first time the 2 warmest months were recorded in consecutive years. January 1932 and 1933 came close at 1st and 3rd, March 1945 and 1946 were also close at 2nd and 3rd. But 1st and 2nd has never happened.
Unfortunately this is the last warm day for awhile...

3rd ice day in a row here, we're equalling the Dec 2016/Jan 2017 streak!!1!1!111!!! 850 hPa temps measured above Paris over the past 5 days: Sat 00h 850 hpa -0.5ยฐC Sat 12h 850 hpa 2.6ยฐC Sun 00h 850 hpa 0.4ยฐC Sun 12h 850 hpa -4.5ยฐC Mon 00h 850 hpa -9.3ยฐC Mon 12h 850 hpa -14.5ยฐC Tue 00h 850 hpa -18.7ยฐC FFS! Tue12h 850 hpa -16.9ยฐC Wed 00h 850 hpa -16.7ยฐC Wed 12h 850 hpa -14.5ยฐC This could have led to epic lows with snow on the ground and less wind. Despite the very cold airmass (for us), we barely reached the lowest temp reached in an average winter. That being said, nice lows in the SE outskirts this morning, with -14.1ยฐC/7ยฐF in Fontainebleau. This is about as cold as the coldest temps reached earlier this month in the western outskirts thanks to the snow (-13.7ยฐC/7ยฐF in Orgerus IIRC), but this time with bare grounds. Both are frost hollows somewhat. Interesting to see most of the Channel coast getting an ice day: 7am windchills in the negative double digits in western Brittany: Right now it is snowing lightly, with more substantial stuff approaching from the south. This is of no use now that the cold air is gone, but I'll take it nonetheless. Current dews. Mild air coming in from the south. Biarritz is forecasted to reach 17ยฐC/63ยฐF tomorrow, after getting snow today! Their record low in March was -18.3 and in February -27.3'C. pretty sure -6 high isn't that special. Lol. I'm pretty sure a high 15-16 C below average isn't that special, sure.... If the record low in March is -18 C, I'm sure a -6 C high is close to the record low high. Record low high is probably something in the -8 C to -10 C range. The record low high is -15.5ยฐC in February and -5ยฐC in March according to Mรฉtรฉo-Climat.

So a -6 C high on February 28 is probably a record, or ties it. Indeed remarkable.

One day the NW will be under those purple colours in December or Jan.....
The cold spell wasn't very significant here. Vancouver only dipped to -7.5C. Feb 2017 was actually colder than this month.

This February will end up averaging 82/70, this is warmer than an average April FFS...... as you and AJ1013 may already know. Yes, your February would be my hottest month on record. Though my hot summer months would have 90ยฐF+ days and bigger diurnal ranges An above average summer month for NYC, too.

Despite not falling below 60F (16C) since Feb 1st it might drop below 10C (50F) next week lol. Shows how truly atrocious this feb was.
