Wow at that Leinster one, this now means that January has the coldest record low high of any month from October to April, how is that even possible?!
Extra impressive considering it didn't even rain that much.

A contrast in maximums for the South Island the other day, with Queenstown recording 14C while Kaikoura recorded 37C on the same day.
A contrast in Central as well, with Clyde reaching 38C and cooling to 3.5C within 48 hours.
Sounds like quite a bit of wind damage back home yesterday, with about a dozen big eucalyptus down apparently, and the trampoline missing. Almost no rain, although over the hill saw 24 hour totals of about 300 mm at Paradise.
Sounds like some big totals down south.

I'm thinking that's a measuring error. Sometimes a 0.0°C reading will register, I've seen it in places in FNQ as well. It's a shame that there isn't 24 hour recording at this station, but the nearest station at Leigh Creek reigstered a low of 19.4°C, so the low at Arkaroola was probably within 2 degrees of that. You can see in this thread that earlier in the month the same thing happened at Warracknabeal with the 50°C reading. Sidenote; Arkaroola looks kinda nice haha.

That is very clearly an error, absolutely no chance of Arkaroola recording 0C at this time of the year. Look at the obs at surrounding stations, and Arkaroola's own obs on the adjoining days. It's also a warm airmass atm, not a strong southerly punce attack where it would be more believable, but still very far-fetched.

A possible valentine's day dust storm? That'd be hilarious.

Impressive lightning clouds about 20km to the SE of Shepparton just now. Mixture of lightning flashes every 2-3 seconds.
Dream summer weather here today, with very light showers at 32C - pure magic!
Meanwhile ... back in Kiwiland, a 24 hour total of 80 - 130mms forecast for Motueka, with a min/max of 20-23C, and an afternoon thunderstorm.
Up to 200mms for the hills.

About 140 mms over 14 hours for Motueka, according to my sources. Mostly in downpours. A light show forecast for the evening.
I daresay that the backcountry would have gotten a good drenching.

Some warm dewpoints for New Zealand yesterday, with many areas reaching 23-24 dp.Even a report of 25 for the Hutt Valley (Wellington)
The missing trampoline at home, from the wind a week ago, was finally located and retrieved - about 300 metres from the house. Had to be disassembled before a difficult transport out - well done to the team back home.

DP got as high as 28.1 on the Gold Coast. Looks a touch unbelievable, but it was high all over the South East overnight, and it's even less likely that 20 different stations or whatever were all simultaneously faulty.

A potential big weather event for Motueka, with ex Cyclone Gita touching down anywhere from the western upper South to the western upper North. Posted some photos on CD of the last big storm to touch down in these parts - nearly a 100 km of flattened/ smashed bush on eastern aspects, and accounts of folks hiding under beds and mystery dead cattle.

Wind gusts up to 90km/h around the northern suburbs this morning, with gusts to 110km/h at St Kilda and Sandringham. Some raised dust was also produced, as seen here:

Can someone be a good fella and confirm if this 1.1° C low is an error or not? Quite looks like it, as West Wyalong is 262 m AMSL and thus too low...I know the Central Western Tablelands, Slopes and Plains like no other!

Can someone be a good fella and confirm if this 1.1° C low is an error or not? Doesn't look like it, as West Wyalong is 262 m AMSL and far inland...I know the Central Western Tablelands, Slopes and Plains like no other! Following up from JG's confirmation ðat ðis is an error...which is fåcken unacceptable by ðe way! ...Is 1.1 °C very out of ðe ordinary ðis time of year ðere?
