Some from Sweden and Norway: Visby, Sweden: Lulea, Sweden: *Snowfall for Swedish places is actually the maximum snow depth for the month Tafjord, Norway: Alesund, Norway: Rost, Norway: Gulsvik, Norway: Flisa, Norway: Skibotn, Norway: Nyrud, Norway: *Snowfall for Norwegian places is an estimate using the change in daily snow depth. I've never found any climate data not in Swedish on SMHI; are you fluent in either Norwegian or Swedish to be able to pull that off? |

I am semi-fluent in Norwegian. For the SMHI, the layout is pretty straightforward so I could infer the meaning of most of the stats and it created a pretty logical weather box I don't tend to find so much on YR but I guess I haven't looked hard enough. SMHI's open data is a bit complicated but it's manageable with a calculator! Being a foreign speaker of Norwegian, how does Swedish look and do you understand Swedish speech? I can sort of speak a simplified Norwegian but obviously it feels awkward. I can sometimes get sort of a headache reading a Norwegian text even though I understand everything. How close is any Norwegian ancestry you might have? One parent from there I suppose? |

I can understand words here and there in Swedish while reading it, but I can’t understand spoken Swedish. My grandparents on my mom’s side are Norwegian and I still have some family who live there now that I see occasionally. My parents were both born here. Yeah, I think this bilingual understanding is something reserved for native speakers, and even then Oslo Norwegian is one of the few dialects that's completely intelligble to a Swede; if a Norwegian makes an effort to speak Oslomål then it's always doable. It's quite complicated sometimes I guess seeing Swedish words as a foreign speaker of Norwegian and accurately connect them. Whenever I see some word in Norwegian that's different, usually there's a synomynous word somewhere. Still impressive that you managed to even find Luleå's monthly stats since I didn't post the link |

I had a bit of a strange year, climate-wise. I spent most of the first half of the year in Vancouver (half of April and half of June were spent in Saskatoon), July and August in Montreal, and September through the end of the year in Saskatoon.
