Ugh Iโm missing out; my old place could get a more intense storm than Iโve seen in at least a year. Purple!

The earliest 30C day recorded remains at 19 May. FUCK! So close but still far
Slight chance again tomorrow, but I'm losing hope.

Extreme fire risk in Western Canada right now. We've had very little precipitation this season and are currently having well above average temperatures. Everything is still turning green though, and there's rain in the forecast for Thursday so that will hopefully help things out a bit. Unfortunately, beyond Thursday there's little to no precipitation in the forecasts, so it looks like we'll be in for a very dry spring either way.

Big records to get wiped out on these latitudes tomorrow. รrebro currently forecast a 30ยฐC high! Very cool stuff. Nykรถping is forecast 28ยฐC and Norrkรถping where I'm going to be for a few hours tomorrow will stand at 29ยฐC. Will be an exciting experience of May heat for sure

Thunder recorded for the first time since April 14 today, with isolated t-storms in the area. Had a shower where I work, but didn't see any rain in my gauge.
Got up to 93F today, and 94F yesterday which tied the previous daily record.

Itโs 74 (23 C) @3 PM. Very nice but it looks like weโll bust on another warm day.
Forecasts were calling for a high of 78 (26 C), but that doesnโt seem to be happening. Fucking east coast got high 80s and low 90s yesterday while we didnโt even get to 70 and the 2 surrounding days were pretty unimpressive.
We did have some sick fog this morning, visibility was very low and it was very cool looking. Iโve seen fog like that in the mountains out west, but never here before.
Through 15 days, May is averaging 72.9/48.7 which is 6.3 f above average. 0.84โ (21 mm) of precipitation so far on only 3 days so itโs been nice and dry.

Very stormy the past few days, had another heavy thunderstorm this afternoon after having three yesterday! Temps have been about 85/75 with dews in the low-mid 70s the past two days, dews very summer-like but highs are still quite spring-like (due to heavy cover).

Wow, what a start to the thunder season.
I heard earlier some claps, but seemed it won't be anything biggie. Suddenly it approached fast and moved from the NE to SW. On the W side of the river you could see even a bit of the sky, and on the right side it was pouring down with a nice lightning show.
Neighbouring city Kaarina recorded 16.1 mm in just minutes, Artukainen has recorded nothing.

Backdoor front over most of the Northeast US, a nice blast of warmth into the Ohio valley, and an Arctic wormhole on the Virginia/WV border which brought -80F anomalies to the area

Got warmer as the day went on today, the high was at 7 PM, very late for the time of year.
Got to 74 (23 C) with no rain after the morning while the east coast had 50s and rain. Always love the rare days when we get the warmth and they donโt!
Meanwhile fucking Buffalo got to 80 (27 C). Thatโs 13 of the last 14 days theyโve been warmer than us like WTF. We average like 2 f warmer than them in May so this stretch is really unusual.

With 11 days of May to go Leeming has already had its full sunshine average for the month at 171 hours! The May record for Bradford (nearer to me but I don't have running sun totals for it, it's generally about 10% lower than Leeming) is 248.5 hours in 1956, that's probably just out of reach but it will almost certainly be our sunniest May for more than 60 years.
We've had one too many chilly nights for the mean to be anything record breaking but our warmest May Tmax on record in Bingley is a surprisingly weak 16.1C in 2008, this year is averaging 16.8 and every day next week is forecast to be warmer than that so that record is as good as gone. What a month after the cold and gloomy start to spring!
