Officially the first above average sunshine May since 2011 now! It's also the first month to get above 200 hours since June 2017, and the first above average sunshine month in the warm season (May-Oct), since September 2015!

Got a weak storm yesterday. Stormy again today with lots of rainin the NW parts of Paris. 48.6 mm in Paris-Batignolles from a strong storm, whereas Paris-Montsouris, a few km away, got a measly 2.2 mm. Up to 82 mm are estimated to have fallen in spots. Handsome warm rain:

Dew Point reached 65 (18 C) today, the highest since last October. Felt noticeably muggy.
Morning showers brought 0.56” (14 mm). I’m glad it was in the morning so I didn’t have to be out for it and it wasn’t during frisbee. Unfortunately it eats into negative precipitation anomoly and severely dents our chances at the first sub-2” (<50 mm) month since September 2017.
Speaking of rain, we’re in overlooked wet stretch. The last dry month was September 2017, and before that November 2016. That’s 15 of 17 wetter than normal months. Last year was also the 3rd wetter year and wettest since the 1800s!
The high today was 74 (23 C). Through 22 days, were averaging 73.1/49.9 (22.8/9.9 C). That would be good for the 13th warmest May, but every day in the 10-day at least as warm as today. May 2015 is still in sight...
With today, we’re up to 16 days reaching 70 (21 C). The record is 24 in 1972 and the last 10 days have highs forecast well into the 70s. Most May 70s here we come...

Ugh 4 pm and 54 out; cloudless here. London is 66 Is that a typical temperature difference? You're in Scotland? Edinburgh is getting screwed by the easterly wind off the north sea. It's 70°F in Prestwick, western Scotland right now. As for the cloud burning off at 2-3PM, that's because you're near the east coast where the cloud is coming from the north sea. Further west it's been more or less clear for days. 65 hours of sun here in the last 5 days.

Stavanger also clear and cool, only 13C now at 17:00. Further north 16C and clear in Bergen and Trondheim, and Oslo is at 25C.
The cool air from NW here will not last though.

Current temperatures across the UK. Big east-west temperature gradient under the influence of an easterly wind. West is best.

It's been so dry grass is starting to lose color in some spots. No rain in sight, pure sunshine every day. What a May.

It's been warm (but not hot), humid, and rainy ever since I got back to North Carolina nine days ago. We've gotten 4" (100mm) of rain in that time. It raind something like nine times in three days at one point, but has dried out a bit the past few days. I don't think it's gotten above 87ºF (30.5ºC) or below 67ºF (19.5ºC) since I got back.
