44F? Isnt it less than the mean minimum for March over there? Indeed, mean extreme minimum for March is about 46 F (8 C) so a bit cooler. Coolest March temp since 2013. Wait what station are you using? The Fort Lauderadle station only reached 55F last night, altho it is running an impressive 3.3F below average for the month

The Fort Lauderadle station only reached 55F last night, altho it is running an impressive 3.3F below average for the month I use FXE, which is more inland and suburban than FLL so a bit more representative, although it's still much closer to the coast so warmer at night than here by 3-4 F. It dropped to 47 F (8 C) there this morning. w1.weather.gov/data/obhistory/KFXE.htmlFLL only reaching 55 F seems shocking, actually dropped to 49 F (9 C) there according to NWS hourly data w1.weather.gov/data/obhistory/KFLL.html

Fuck, this is the time of year when Des Moines and other places on our latitude out west are getting massive warmups, while the entire Northeast is stuck in the freezer. Seasonal lag sucks ass

Yesterday had quite a big diurnal range by our standards (high of 76 F, low of 44 F) today is pretty similar with a low of 49 F and a high of 80 F so far. Not often we have 40s and 80s in the same day.
Forecast looks like a roller coaster.

Yeah, but we also had that massive warmth at the end of February. February's huge positive anomalies easily cancel out December and January. Even with the monstrous cold wave, January was only a tiny bit below average Here is a brief rundown of the past five winters 13/14: Very cold 14/15: Record cold 15/16: Very mild 16/17: Very mild 17/18: A bit above average

The article also mentioned winters getting snowier so I would still say 15/16 was wintry just due to the fact that the east coast saw the largest blizzard on record.

If there is one thing I would say, it's that the winters here are getting more extreme. So we're getting more extreme cold, but also more extreme warmth
Also 15/16 winter was very mild. December 2015 was +12F above average in the Northeast, January and February were about +3F above average.
If there is any period of the year that's getting colder, it's easily March. 5/6 past Marches have been below average. As much as I like to complain about the winters here, they're not getting colder

Or is there some sort of website that does it?

Go to โsingle stationโ โseasonal time seriesโ โaverage tempโ Period of interest: winter then select the station

^ Thank you
For Binghamton, 14/15 was the 5th coldest of all time. 15/16 was the 2nd warmest. 16/17 was the 6th warmest
For LaGuardia Airport, 14/15 was the 12th coldest of all time. 15/16 and 16/17 were the 2nd and 3rd warmest, respectively. The past winter was the 22nd warmest out of 79 years, so definitely well above average
