Kamloops is the best but it needs more thunderstorms. Any individual settlement you'd name the worst?

Any individual settlement you'd name the worst? Whatever is in Atlantic Canada or Pacific Russia at 50 Β°N ... Sept-Iles is pretty bad.

As for climate of 48th parallel in Europe - there is Budapest not far from Vienna and according to 1981-2010 climatological norm, the climate of Budapest is already classified as humid subtropical (KΓΆppen Cfa), with averages above 0Β°C in the coldest month and above 22Β°C in the warmest. However, Budapest is a very little bit more southern than Vienna (47Β°29β²N).

Best is probably Lincoln or Sheffield, UK. Some places in Poland or Germany have slightly warmer summers but I don't like their cold winters.
Worst, tie between various places in Siberia or inland Canada.

43 degrees North Best is Tully Heiberg Forest: Good temperatures, snowy winters, too wet overall. Worst is Turpan--too dry too hot. Nukus is similar. Close, but not good enough Madison: Slightly too warm year-round, but a good four season climate. Vladivostok: too wet in summer. It should have stable snow cover in winter, if it snows enough. Talgar: Summer is too dry, but does it get thunderstorms? I don't know. Winter looks nice and I like that mountains are nearby. Close, but not bad enough Coos Bay: Drizzly cloudy winters and boring cool summers. Crater Lake: Colder version of Coos Bay, but with way too much snow. Darwin Ranch: Interesting subarctic climate with huge diurnals, but it's too cold at night, frost is common even in summer.
43 degrees South: no climates are continental enough. Best: Esquel, Trevelin, and Christchurch have similar averages. I'll pick Esquel as it has the coldest winter and the Patagonian climates have much lower record lows. Worst: Hokitika: Extremely wet and oceanic all year. Honorable Mention for the Chatham Islands: Windy and cloudy all year, no heat or cold.

As Razza said, I don't like cold at all, I can handle heat, especially with low humidity, but prefer temps in the 10Β° to 30Β°C range, and with lots of sun and little rain

I'm from 45N (or just a bit under there)... Best: Eugene/Portland, Oregpn: Bordeaux (winters are a bit too mild and too prone to heatwaves) and Banja Luka, Bosnia (too continental) are honorary contenders... Limoges is excellent (A/A+) but a touch further north at 45'50'') Worst: Kyzylorda, Kazakhstan & Karamay, Xinjiang (far too dry and continental)... Changchun & Harbin are up there due to the severe cold and winter dryness I'm now living at 42N (or just under there).... Best: Ponferrada, Spain (a bit dry)..... with Braga, Portugal (too wet and mild winters) close behind... Worst: Nukus, Uzbekistan (far too dry and continental) or Korla, Xinjiang parts of the alps and mongolia at high altitude may be worse... but I didn't count these.... Cadeau would you pick the same places for my latitudes or somewhere different? We have similar overall climate preferences, but might have different tolerance ranges....

Freiburg's Wiki averages in summer are a bit rigged, though. Average highs/lows (1981-2010) are 26.1 / 15.8 Β°C in July and 25.7 / 15.4 Β°C in August.
