So, we have been public for 5 months, and the result is: zero new members.
I was against a public forum in the first place, and I think we should return to that. There seems to be no benefit with the public forum but only downsides: weirdos like can stalk freely.
So close the forum, or at the very least make the shoutbox hidden.

Yes, I don't see any real benefits to this place being public, but I could spend the next 10 minutes listing the potential negatives.

I would have preferred to keep it secret and invite select members from other forums. Since it has been open, it hasn't really been flooded with retards (my main worry before), so I see no reason to change it back.

Keep the forum open. New members could see the forum and be convinced to join that way. But that's yet to materialise, and how long has it been open at this point?

We have had no new members from this in 5 months. There is little reason to think that it would change in the future either.

I think this forum should be kept open, for the same reasons as @qidb602 mentioned.

Also we certainly have had new members. Even if you dismiss the re-invited members, Benfxmth comes to mind as an active one.

Yes. It would be rare in the near future for someone to just request permission to us and then become a very active member. But after they're invited I think it would be more likely for someone to actually want to come here instead of ignoring the invitation if they can see the forum.
This is the only good argument for an open forum I've heard so far.

I've already put forth that very argument countless times, past and present...perhaps my vocabularly was too difficult for you—a person whose English is not his first tongue—to understand. My apologies, in that case!

But it will remain a theoretical argument unless you put words into action. The present situation is this: Weirdos can watch in on us, but recruitment is still low.

And both of us have said that the open forum thing had no influence on our decision to return.

Open.... closed off societies always eventually die. The freemasons are one of the oldest movements in the world bror. I didn't realize we had gained enough notoriety as the free masons to attract attention. Literally no one has suffered from going public, we have gained even if only it be a better spot on google search. We have two options: closed and it is our responsibility to find new members, which while you were gone razza wasn't happening, no one brought new members we were down to under 30 regular members in a day. This despite people recognizing the need for new members, point is we say we will but in truth its slow, arduous , and not many do it.
Or we remain public, remain the top search, and remain visible for someone to join. I d take the option with hope not the shy guy option .
What is arietes motive for this? Is he afraid Finnish police will stumble upon the horribly non pc stuff and arrest him?

My motive is that it has reaped no benefits so far. Not a single member has stumbled upon this forum, registered and become active. There's no point in having people being able to lurk and view the shoutbox for example.
