The Gabba is Australia's favourite ground, it doesn't bode well that they're being pushed so hard there. 4th inning chases are always a nightmare because of how much the pitch has deteriorated.

I still expect an England batting collapse but this crack could give us some fireworks tomorrow if Aus are chasing anything decent

England have a chance so long as Root is there. We're privileged to be watching the two best batsmen in the world, Root and Smith, both leading their sides in this series.

Okay, Root's gone. Game over.

Well, root has just gone right after making a 50. This should be a cracker of a match

Moenn can put a hell of an innings together under pressure, but I'm not sure he's the guy to save us on this occasion. Only chance for England is to reach 150 and hope for humid, overcast conditions tomorrow.

On his day he can pull them out of trouble, but usually in home conditions.

Going into lunch, Australia have the ascendancy, if Root was still in I would give England the advantage. Very good test so far, hopefully the rest of the series plays out like this.

Very pleased with the way today ended up, far better than I was expecting.

I was expecting an England batting collapse Didn't expect Aus to make such light work of the chase so far though, ah well.

I think my drunken commentary might have been too optimistic.

Can't believe it was anything major if they've managed to keep it secret for three weeks lol I don't know that much about Jonny Bairstow the person but I have heard he's not the easiest guy in the world to get along with

I predicted a draw at the Gabba, and that was looking likely until we decided to bat like Australia at Trent Bridge in our 2nd innings.
In Adelaide, it depends on who is batting in the evening session; our batsmen can play swing a lot better than the Australians can, and Anderson is better than any of the Aussie bowlers in those conditions.
Perth will be an easy win for Australia unless we have Stokes and Wood/Overton.
Melbourne is usually an English wicket and I think England will win there.
Sydney is like the Oval, so probably a draw or an England win.
Overall, 2-2.

If England lose the next test I think the wheels could come of like they did last time they were down there. The Aussie crowd, players and media can break a team. Although once thing aren't going their way their silence is deafening, a very fickle bunch

I think England will win the Adelaide test. Swing conditions at night, plus Adelaide's forecast for that week resembles something of the English midlands in mid-July, which will make them feel at home.

If you could put together a WWF/c-d XI, who would you put in?
