Ended up going for a nearly three hour walk in the late morning and early afternoon today. It ranged between -4C and -2C on the walk and was relatively windless except for a couple of spots, like on the bridge in the last photo. I've been stuck indoors due to a weeks long severe cold snap which just ended earlier in the week, and have been getting home from work too late to go out much on those first milder days we've had so far, so it felt amazing to actually get out for an extended period of time. Despite our precipitation totals being technically a little under average, we actually got quite a lot of snow so far, certainly more than the last few years (even a bit more than last winter with its massive blizzard) and we've still got more on the way, so that makes for some nice scenery.

^^ Awesome. This is what winter should look like. Here are a few shots from a trip to the Channel shores around New Year. It began with one of the most beautiful sunrises I've ever seen. Unfortunately I was driving and my gf apparently can't take a sunrise pic from a moving car to save her life. Still nice colors in Le Trรฉport, the nearest or second nearest seaside town from Paris as the crow flies.

The district heating smokestack looked like that of a power plant the other day. Looked like it's -30ยฐC or something.

My car windows one morning last week after some freezing rain overnight. Shockingly, my commute to work was completely normal and didn't feel any more slippery than usual.

Here's snowstorm pics from yesterday and today. Central LI, about half a meter in this area. Mostly enjoyed it by shovelling for hours on end, though I did briefly jog around the town as well.

Awesome! How cold did it get afterwards? Some sad pics of a sad winter at nearly 50ยฐN. Sad overcast: Sad fog Yeah central Paris doesn't do fog as well as more suburban areas, though one can distinguish a hint of blurriness at the tip of this dome: Let's resume to the sad list. Sad geese: Sad trees: Sad trees again Lots of sad trees actually Sad trees complimented with some sort of (sad) monument I'm done.

Awesome! How cold did it get afterwards? -14c on Central LI and -11c in NYC! Here's the Hudson river today, first time seeing chunks of ice since Feb 2019! Today was our 6th ice day in a row in NYC, might be the best streak since 2018.
