Spring's definitely early around here, as always. I took advantage of the ever later sunsets to take a stroll after work and embrace the new season!

Mason and Bird Trail: ~8-9km, from Bickley Dam to Victoria Dam A drizzly, cool and cloudy morning. 2nd March, about 14.5C at the beginning of the hike to 18C by the end. Had some heavy rain come through so I had to run the final 200m to my car ahaha.

Went for a walk on Friday night when it was snowing fairly heavily. Between Thursday night and Saturday morning we got around 15cm total. It was around -10C when I took these photos.

Went to one of the many Fort Collins natural areas today. Kept following the trail by my house pats where I normally turn around, this natural area was a marshy area about 1.5 miles away. Horsetooth Mountain and the hillside letter (A for Aggiesโthe old csu mascot): > Path was very muddy with scattered snow patches. Pretty reflection in the frozen pond near my house: Watched this hawk for awhile, was pretty close up:

Went for a hike/snowshoe with my brother today near Nederland. Distance: 4.7 miles Time: 4.25 hours Trailhead elevation: 8,990โ Highest elevation: 10,010โ Conditions: mid 30s and cloudy at first, low 30s and snow for second half Nice view east down the valley early in the hike: > Came to lost lake at 1.8 miles, nice lake. After the lake we put on snowshoes and my brother was like fuck the trail so we bushwhacked up the ridge across from the lake. Exhausting but fun to do. Had occasional views peaking through the trees, due to the effort they felt better than they were: Eventually, we came out at a rockfield a bit over 10,000โ. Unfortunately the snow had started a few minutes earlier so the views were socked in. We then bushwhacked down to a trail which eventually met up with the trail we took to the lake.

Here are some pics from the past 10 days. Early spring look into full swing as no freezes recently and a couple warm days in the lower 70s, so plenty of budding trees and flowers sprouting up. Looks like I'm about 2 weeks behind you rozenn , cherry blossoms should start here in about 10 days.

Took a ride into countryside along a canal on Saturday. Handsome ensoleillement! I swear the mural to the left is more than a decade old. This one obviously isn't... Neat formerly industrial building It was pretty gusty with NE winds. Of course we chose one of the few days in the year with gusty NE winds to ride northeast. Looking back. Lots of daisies everywhere in grassy areas: Holy shit, this tree has already leafed out. Nice The magnolia bloom is already about to come to an end. Crossing the infamous northeastern suburbs. Park replaced an industrial complex. Some vestiges here and there: The canal is trenched, it feels like you're riding in the middle of a forest. Now crossing less urbanized areas <3 daffodils and all kinds of bulbs The city of Paris owns and manages the 100 km-long canal, so you see "Paris city councils" signs even if you're definitely not in Paris. Had to cycle on railroad service roads to avoid a trunk road. Good move not to have opted for my road bike. Not much development anymore People enjoying beach on this sunny day: Damn this lawn is white. Wondering how passable this one is when rainfall is even normal. Shortcut, though it is forbidden. Buncha statues in a random field, getting close to the train station.

Sunset came out pretty great on camera yesterday. I've made a new (very) DIY radiation shield, using plastic plant pot saucers with a diameter of 21 cm. They were pretty off-white and also translucent so I've covered them with aluminum foil. I know titanium oxide paint is better than aluminum but I'm hoping aluminum should do fine at least for the time being. Initial tests seem to suggest it's suitable for direct sunlight but we'll see. At the moment it's reading 7.4'C, same as the uni station. The airport station seems to have dropped rapidly down to 3.5'C in the last hour. My balcony is 11'C in the shade. Just an experimental placement since it's not exacly inconspicuous and I haven't exactly asked anyone for permission to place a curious looking weather station in the wide open like this. Hopefully I'll be able to have it there for a whole day at least without anyone touching it. What a beautiful city! And the snow is already melting? Well, that depends on what you mean by "already melting".
