greener and more decideous than I expected out of Colorado. doesn't look like severe drought Even in the natural areas, thereโs many more trees and overall greener than out in the prairies. Go a bit east or west and trees are only along water and thereโs more pines. We did get 1.5โ of rain early last week which greened things up and the drought impacts are mostly low mountain snowpack, vegetation looks pretty normal.

Went to play disc golf up in the Buckhorn canyon today, about 30 miles west of here. Elevation was about 8400โ with temps in the high 40s. Did have on and off snow flurries though. Very pleasant though. Aspens were still pretty bare here and there were lots of fire ravaged trees but very nice views: ^some snow patches on the peaks (>10,000โ) > < In the other direction: Stopped off at Horsetooth reservoir on the way back:

300m low cloud base on Friday. Almost the entire day remained above 90% humidity, despite there being very little rain after 9am. Took this pic from my office building (about 14th story).

biking riding out of Greenfield, just over the Vermont border and then thru the Deerfield River Valley back in Massachusetts. dam on the Green River from this Monday. A strong cold front around 6 pm was forecast to bring thunderstorms. before that, a chance of pop-ups but didn't take them seriously. yesterday the rain chances were exagerated by my phone's forecast. there were thick low clouds till about 9:45 am. at 10 am, low clouds broke revealing a clear blue sky with a few puffy clouds waterfall. never knew of it till i biked on an out of the gravel road and saw a trail by the stream it crossed by noon, big puffy clouds Heard thunder and dark clouds approaching, hid out in a park shelter. some close by lightning but the storm mostly swiped me. To the west in the direction I'm headed the storm looked much darker, so it was worth it to wait it out. After the storm past, I changed routes to stick on the main road; quicker to get into town and felt a little safer on a storm. Deli/ convenience storm I stopped at in Readsboro, Vermont where I could wait out any more pop-ups. Shop staff said the storm was very strong (lots of wind and lightning) and lasted 30 minutes Kept going down the Deerfield Valley, waited a passing thundersstorm I could see on my phone's radar, for 25 minutes. A waterfall I saw after a short hike. Started raining again, but no thunder cleared up quickly finsihed my ride just before a very heavy long rain band from the cold front t-storm came

Here's a long overdue spring progress update. April 30th: Some small leaves can be seen on a bird cherry in the middle of the picture, and I'm sure that some examples of more prominent leafing could've been found if you searched in other parts of Umeรฅ. Firmly green looking on May the 4th. May 6th: Saw a dog walking without a leash in the literal city square. Very odd. The owner would let it walk multiple meters away from her as well. Good doggo I suppose. Went to the rapids and arboretum on that day. That bridge whose construction has been going on for ages due to delays resulting from damages sustained during multiple landslides, construction accidents etc. is actually seeing some significant progress since the last time I saw it. During the entire last couple years it seemed like there was literally no progress whatsoever. Still residual winter snow on the northern side of the river. Rapids. Surprisingly low water level and flow rate considering the snow melt along the river's drainage. No leaves on any trees besides some of the bird cherries. If you looked in the right spots it could appear quite green. Most spots, not so much. On May 9th I saw the first properly green birch outside of the city square. Pretty much all other birches were bare at the time though. On May 13th they had started catching up however. Still a lot of bare birches left though. It's been a very dry spring, and while we've had a few rainy days the last couple months, they've all had pretty low precipitation totals, like the last rainy day on May 16th which saw a millimeter or two. After rain comes sunshine, or whatever the saying is. On May 18th things had really started greening up. And on May 19th it was definitely mostly green, with aspen the only bare native tree species left (which is a little unfortunate tbh since those are the largest trees that tend to line the edges of forests. I found a cafรฉ on the top floor of the hospital building, with stunning views and remarkable prices (1.5$ for a coffee and like 4-6$ for proper subway-ish sandwhiches, which is remarkable for the fact that the cafรฉs on the ground floor charge 3-4$ for their coffee and 5-8$ for similar sandwhiches.) And on May 21st I went on a long walk along the river. It got to about 18'C in my part of town, but I think some areas along our walk may have reached 20'C in the more favorable spots. I'd say it was about 85% green on that day. Someone had braided a bunch of cherries together, on multiple points along our path, which was very cute. It felt like proper summer on that day. Never seen so little water in the creeks and river though as far as I remember. I'm sure 2018 had less water in the creeks at some point but I didn't visit this area anytime during that year. This spot in particular felt like it could've been 20'C while we were there. The large brown and dry field couple with the shelter from the wind that the woods give. It felt really warm. Everywhere within 200m of the river west of the city center is so wonderful. You can be 2km from the city center and feel like you're in the country somewhere. I grew up in that part of town and it was such a magical place to grow up. I wonder who made this sculpture, if it was just some random person or if it's some sort of commissioned art piece. Never been in this particular spot without the planks actually being necessary. Ground was definitely still not dry though. Creepy. This is probably the most extravagant house in the entire city. I remember it used to be a completely ordinary house until a few years ago when someone decided to rebuild the house into something from the movie Parasite. A bit frustrating that the pathway is slightly off-center relative to the house but whatever. I didn't take more pictures of the house but it's pretty big, extremely extravagant, it's along the river, and they have a very large and "fancy" lawn on the back side. And then finally a picture I took from my balcony just now before making this post. The trees are starting the get that deeper green tint of summer (except some birches that have brown-reddish leaves for some reason I don't really know (there hasn't been a frost this month except on May 4th when my PWS recorded -2.0'C). It also smelled like proper summer. The bird cherries have started blooming, and it was over 18.5'C already at 10:15 and 25'C on my balcony.

It feels good to finally not be the member with the slowest spring progression. Looking at instagram images from Trondheim it seems they aren't even ahead of us in any particularly noticable way. These were taken on May 22nd in Trondheim And this one on May 23rd.

Trondheim quite a bit more lush than here on those dates Babu. Although recently, it has really exploded here. This is from yesterday. Temp was 11C: Some pics from May 22 at the beach/ocean: Looks chilly but it was 27C with a 18.5C dew: A small lagoon or lake
