Spring green-up in one long post. Two posts March is all brown once the snow melts. A few pics from the 26th. You can a slight hint of green in the moss, but that's it. Not much to look at this time of year. Mid-April, the grass turned green again. No leaves yet. Ice and snow is a distant memory... 16th Back to snow for a day. 18th On the 23rd, a warm day brought a crowd to the beach. It reached 80 inland but only the high 50's by the water. Still had a few hundred people hanging out in swimsuits. A quiet, rocky spot. Not far from the crowds. 24th. The warm weather brought buds and flowers (not pictured) to the city streets. Still bare outside the UHI.

May is when things started to pick up. On cool sunny day, seeing more growth. (4th) A few buds by the river. No leaves yet. Art. The grass is green, but the trees are bare in the great swamps of Milwaukee. Flowering trees are a welcome sight before the bigger trees wake up. 7th. Outside the UHI things are different. No leaves, barely even buds. Taken on the 8th of May.
I was out of town for a week and came back on the 13th.
Everything changed. It was hot, mid-80s, and everything was green! GREEN Outside the UHI...also GREEN. This was taken on the 14th. It's further south than the place I was on the 8th, but still...a huge change. One spot that wasn't green. Could be the sandy soil, but there's a lot of dead brush for some reason. Last set for the spring is the 28th. Fully leafed out by now.
